Claims
- 1. A non-pourable homogeneous ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer which is characterized as having a number average molecular weight (Mn) as determined by gel permeation chromatography, of no more than 11,000, a molecular weight distribution, Mw/Mn, as determined by gel permeation chromatography, of from 1.5 to 2.5, a pour point of greater than −30° C. as determined by ASTM Method No. D97, and a density of from 0.890 to 0.949 g/cm3.
- 2. A non-pourable homogeneous ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer which is characterized as having a number average molecular weight (Mn) as determined by gel permeation chromatography, of no more than 11,000, a molecular weight distribution. Mw/Mn, as determined by gel permeation chromatography, of from 1.5 to 2.5, a pour point of greater than −30° C. as determined by ASTM Method No. D97, and a density of from 0.890 to 0.899 g/cm3.
- 3. A non-pourable homogeneous ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer which is characterized as having a number average molecular weight (Mn) as determined by gel permeation chromatography, of no more than 11,000, a molecular weight distribution, Mw/Mn, as determined by gel permeation chromatography, of from 1.5 to 2.5, a pour point of greater than −30° C., as determined by ASTM Method No. D97, wherein the polymer has a density of from 0.900 to 0.919 g/cm3.
- 4. A non-pourable homogeneous ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer which is characterized as having a number average molecular weight (Mn) as determined by gel permeation chromatography, of no more than 11,000, a molecular weight distribution. Mw/Mn, as determined by gel permeation chromatography, of from 1.5 to 2.5, a pour point of greater than −30° C., as determined by ASTM Method No. D97, wherein the polymer has a density of from 0.920 to 0.949 g/cm3.
- 5. A non-pourable homogeneous ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer which is characterized as having a number average molecular weight (Mn) as determined by gel permeation chromatography, of no more than 11,000, a molecular weight distribution, Mw/Mn, as determined by gel permeation chromatography, of from 1.5 to 2.5, a pour point of greater than −30° C., as determined by ASTM Method No. D97, wherein the polymer has a density of greater than 0.950 g/cm3.
- 6. A non-pourable homogeneous ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer, having a density of at least 0.920 g/cm3, which is characterized as lacking spherulites and as having lamella with an average length greater than 100 nanometers when viewed using transmission electron microscopy
- 7. A process comprising reacting ethylene and at least one ethylenically unsaturated comonomer at a reaction temperature of at least 80° C. in the presence of a constrained geometry catalyst to form a non-pourable homogeneous ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer which is characterized as having a number average molecular weight (Mn) of no more than 11,000, a molecular weight distribution, Mw/Mn, as determined by gel permeation chromatography, of from 1.5 to 2.5. and a pour point of at least −30° C. as determined by ASTM Method No. D97.
- 8. A non-pourable homogeneous ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer which is characterized as having a number average molecular weight (Mn) as determined by gel permeation chromatography, of no more than 11,000, a molecular weight distribution, Mw/Mn, as determined by gel permeation chromatography, of from 1.5 to 2.5. a pour point of at least −30° C., as determined by ASTM Method No. D97, wherein the ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer is prepared using a constrained geometry catalyst.
- 9. The ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer of claim 1, wherein said polymer is a copolymer of ethylene and at least one comonomer selected from the group consisting of ethylenically unsaturated monomers, conjugated or nonconjugated dienes, and polyenes.
- 10. The ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer of claim 1, wherein said comonomer is an ethylenically unsaturated monomer selected from the group consisting of the C3-C20 α-olefins, styrene, alkyl-substituted styrene, vinylbenzocyclobutane, 1,4-hexadiene, and naphthenics.
- 11. The ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer of claim 1, wherein the comonomer is an ethylenically unsaturated monomer which is a C3-C20 α-olefin, and wherein the α-olefn is further selected from the group consisting of 1-propene, isobutylene, 1-butene, 1-hexene, 1-heptene, 4-methyl-1-pentene, and 1-octene.
- 12. The ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer of claim 1, wherein the comonomer is an ethylenicaily unsaturated monomer of 1-butene, 1-hexene, 4-methyl-1-pentene, 1-heptene, or 1-octene.
- 13. The ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer of claim 1, wherein the comonomer is a C5-C20 α-olefn.
- 14. The ultra-low molecular weight ethylene polymer of claim 1, wherein the comonomer is a C6-C20 α-olefin.
