Claims
- 1. A method of producing plastic tubing, which comprises introducing molten plastic material into a mold cavity, forming said material while in said cavity to the contours thereof to produce a predetermined length of plastic tubing, removing said cavity from said length of plastic tubing and advancing said cavity forwardly along a linear path to a downstream location, moving said cavity along a linear path from said downstream location rearwardly in a straight line direction to an upstream location, and advancing said mold cavity from said upstream location forwardly along a linear path into close adjacency to a second mold cavity whereinto molten plastic material is introduced prior to its introduction into said closely adjacent mold cavity
- 2. A method of producing plastic parts, which comprises locating first and second closed mold cavities in substantially abutting relationship, introducing molten plastic material into said second closed mold cavity to form a plastic part therein, opening said second closed mold cavity and moving the same along a linear path forwardly to a downstream location while essentially simultaneously advancing said first closed mold cavity along a linear path forwardly for the introduction therein of molten plastic material, moving said open mold cavity from said downstream location rearwardly along a linear path to a location upstream of said first closed mold cavity in close adjacency thereto, and closing said open mold cavity and positioning the same for the later introduction therein of molten plastic material.
- 3. A method of producing plastic parts as defined in claim 2, which comprises positioning a third mold cavity while in open position at a reserve location spaced from said first and second mold cavities, and when required, moving said third mold cavity along a linear path from said reserve location and in a straight line direction to a position spaced from said first and second mold cavities for later introduction therein of molten plastic material.
- 4. A method of producing plastic parts, which comprises sequentially moving a plurality of mold cavities in a straight line direction along a linear path forwardly and rearwardly relative to a source of extrudable molten plastic material, closing one of said cavities during the introduction of molten plastic material therein, opening said one mold cavity after the formation of a plastic part therein, directing said open cavity downstream along a linear path, closing another of said mold cavities for the introduction of molten plastic material therein, directing said downstream open mold cavity rearwardly along a linear path past said another closed mold cavity to a position upstream therefrom, closing said one mold cavity, and advancing said one closed mold cavity into substantial abutment with said another closed mold cavity for later movement into position for receiving molten plastic material.
- 5. A method of producing plastic parts, comprising positioning first and second closed mold cavities in general end to end abutment with one another, locating an open third mold cavity downstream of said first and second mold cavities, introducing plastic material into said second mold cavity, advancing said first and second mold cavities forwardly, opening said second mold cavity and moving the same rearwardly past said first mold cavity, closing said second mold cavity and advancing the same into substantial end to end abutment with said first mold cavity, introducing plastic material into said first mold cavity, opening said first mold cavity, moving said first and third open mold cavities rearwardly past said closed second mold cavity, closing said third mold cavity and advancing the same forwardly into general end to end abutment with said second mold cavity, introducing plastic material into said third mold cavity, opening said second mold cavity and moving the same rearwardly past said third mold cavity, closing said second mold cavity and advancing the same into general end to end abutment with said closed third mold cavity, opening said third mold cavity and moving the same forwardly to a downstream location, moving said first open mold cavity forwardly, closing said first mold cavity, and moving said first closed mold cavity into general end to end abutment with said second closed mold cavity.
