Claims
- 1. A process for preparing fluorine-containing copolymers which comprises copolymerizing fluoroolefins with vinyl ether monomer compositions comprising vinyl ethers of the formula (I):
- CH.sub.2 .dbd.CHOR.sup.1 OC(.dbd.O)R.sup.2 C(.dbd.O)O(H).sub.n M (I)
- wherein R.sup.1 is a divalent aliphatic residue of 2 to 10 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 is a divalent organic residue, and M is an alkali metal, or a mono-functional basic compound which contains nitrogen atom or phosphorous atom and has a pKa of 6 to 12, and n is 0 when M is the alkali metal, and is 1 when M is other, and vinyl ethers of the formula (II):
- CH.sub.2 .dbd.CHOR.sup.1 OC(.dbd.O)R.sub.2 C(.dbd.O)OH (II)
- wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are as defined above, and said monomer compositions containing the vinyl ethers (I) in an amount of 1 to 50% by mole of the vinyl ethers (II).
- 2. The process of claim 1, wherein the monomer compositions are dividedly supplied.
- 3. The process of claim 1, wherein the monomer compositions are continuously supplied.
- 4. The process of claim 1, wherein the alkali metal is a member selected from the group consisting of Na, K and Li.
- 5. The process of claim 1, wherein the basic compound has a pKa of 8 to 11.
- 6. The process of claim 1, wherein the basic compound is a member selected from the group consisting of ammonia, an amine and a phosphine.
- 7. The process of claim 6, wherein the basic compound is a tertiary amine.
- 8. The process of claim 1, wherein R.sup.2 is a divalent hydrocarbon residue.
- 9. The process of claim 1, wherein R.sup.2 is a residue represented by the formula (i):
- --CHX.sup.1.sub.p CH.sup.2.sub.2 q (i)
- wherein X.sup.1 is hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, X.sup.2 is hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, and p and q are O or an integer of 1 to 11, provided that they are not O at the same time; a residue represented by the formula (ii):
- --CH.sub.2).sub.r (CX.sup.3 .dbd.CH).sub.s (ii)
- wherein X.sup.3 is hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, r is O or an integer of 1 to 3, and s is an integer of 1 to 3; a residue represented by the formula (iii): ##STR10## wherein R.sup.7 is --CHX.sup.4).sub.t in which X.sup.4 is hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1 to 3 carbon atoms and t is an integer ##STR11## a residue represented by the formula (iv): ##STR12## wherein R.sup.8 is --CHX.sup.5).sub.u in which X.sup.5 is hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1 to 3 carbon atoms and u is an integer of 3 to 4, or --CX.sup.6 .dbd.CX.sup.7).sub.v in which X.sup.6 and X.sup.7 are the same or different and each is hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1 to 3 carbon atoms and v is an integer of 2 to 3;
- a residue represented by the formula (v):
- C(.dbd.CH.sub.2)--CH.sub.2 -- (v);
- a residue represented by the formula (vi): ##STR13##
- 10. The process of claim 1, wherein the fluoroolefin is a member selected from the group consisting of tetrafluoroethylene, chlorotrifluoroethylene, hexafluoropropylene, trifluoroethylene, vinylidene fluoride and vinyl fluoride.
- 11. The process of claim 1, wherein the copolymerization is carried out in mixed solvents of ketones having 3 to 20 carbon atoms and alcohols having the formula: ##STR14## wherein Y.sup.4 is an alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, Y is hydrogen atom or methyl, l is zero or an integer of 1 to 20, and a mixing ratio of the ketones/alcohols being 1/10 to 10/1 by mole.
