Claims
- 1. A process for preparing a diol compound represented by the formula (I): comprising reacting styrene oxide with N-methylethanolamine in an aprotic polar organic solvent selected from dimethylformamide and 1,3-dimethylimidazolidin-2-one.
- 2. A process for preparing a dichloro-compound represented by the formula (II): comprising chlorinating the diol compound obtained in claim 1 without isolating the diol compound.
- 3. A process for preparing 1-methyl-3-phenylpiperazine represented by the formula (IV): comprising reacting the dichloro-compound obtained in claim 2 with ammonia.
- 4. A process for preparing a piperazine derivative represented by the formula (V): comprising reacting 1-methyl-3-phenylpiperazine with 2-chloro-3-cyanopyridine in an aprotic polar organic solvent in the presence of (a) an organic base and (b) potassium iodide or sodium iodide.
- 5. An oxalate of a piperazine derivative represented by the formula (VI):
