Claims
- 1. A process for preparing a higher order cuprate complex comprising:
- reacting an alkyne with zirconocene chloride hydride to produce an E-alkenyl zirconium intermediate;
- reacting the E-alkenyl zirconium intermediate with an alkyllithium and a lower order cuprate reagent selected from R.sup.2 Cu(CN)Li or the mixture CUCN and R.sup.2 Li to produce a higher order cuprate complex.
- 2. A process as recited in claim 1 wherein the reaction is performed in a temperature range from -50.degree. C. to -78.degree. C.
- 3. A process as recited in claim 1 wherein the lower order copper reagent comprises R.sup.2 CU(CN)Li.
- 4. A process as recited in claim 1 wherein the lower order copper reagent comprises the mixture CuCN and R.sup.2 Li.
