Claims
- 1. A process for producing a casing for receiving a watch movement comprising:
- providing a disposable empty metal container having a side wall about a longitudinal axis, a bottom and a cover;
- compressing said container in at least one direction to produce a compressed multi-layer metal piece of predetermined dimension; and
- forming a cavity in said compressed multi-layer metal piece for receiving a watch movement.
- 2. A process according to claim 1 wherein said disposable empty metal container is substantially cylindrical.
- 3. A process according to claim 2 including mechanically compressing said container at least in the direction of the longitudinal axis.
- 4. A process according to claim 2 including mechanically compressing said container in the direction of its longitudinal axis and in a radial direction to said longitudinal axis.
- 5. A process according to claim 4 wherein the mechanical compression is carried out in sequential steps.
- 6. A process according to claim 2 wherein the metal container is a beverage can.
- 7. A process according to claim 2 including fixing a mounting for securing a wrist strap to the casing.
- 8. A process for producing a casing for receiving a watch movement, comprising the following steps:
- providing a disposable empty metal container having a side wall about a longitudinal axis, a bottom and a cover;
- removing the bottom and the cover from said container to form an open-ended blank;
- slitting the side wall of the blank longitudinally;
- compressing said blank in the direction of the longitudinal axis to produce a ring shaped casing wall consisting of a compressed multi-layer metal piece; and
- closing said ring shaped casing wall by mounting thereto a closure member to form a casing for receiving a watch movement.
- 9. A process according to claim 8 wherein said disposable empty metal container is substantially cylindrical.
- 10. A process according to claim 9 including compressing said blank in a die.
- 11. A process according to claim 9 wherein the metal container is a beverage can.
- 12. A process according to claim 9 including fixing a mounting for securing a wrist strap to the casing.
- 13. A process for producing a casing for receiving a watch movement, comprising the following steps:
- providing a disposable empty metal container having a side wall about a longitudinal axis, a bottom and a cover;
- removing the bottom and the cover from said container to form an open-ended blank;
- compressing said blank in one direction to produce a compressed multi-layer metal sheet;
- forming in said compressed multi-layer metal sheet a cavity having a side wall;
- providing a shaping die;
- compressing in the shaping die the formed metal sheet to form a ring shaped casing wall consisting of a compressed multi-layer metal piece; and
- closing said ring shaped casing wall by mounting thereto a closure member to form a casing for receiving a watch movement.
- 14. A process according to claim 13 wherein said disposable empty metal container is substantially cylindrical.
- 15. A process according to claim 14 wherein the metal container is a beverage can.
- 16. A process according to claim 14 including fixing a mounting for securing a wrist strap to the casing.
