Claims
- 1. A process for producing an alicyclic (meth)allyl ester monomer, comprising reacting a polyvalent alkyl ester of a polybasic acid having an alicyclic structure with an allyl alcohol and/or a methallyl alcohol in the presence of a transesterification catalyst.
- 2. The process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the transesterification catalyst is at lease one compound selected from the group consisting of combinations of alkali metal salts of organic acids and/or inorganic acids with hydroxides and/or oxides of alkaline earth metals, organic metal complexes, organic metal compounds, tertiary amines, alkali metal salts and/or alkaline earth metal salts of carbonic acid, and alkylalkoxides of alkali metals.
- 3. A process for producing an alicyclic (meth)allyl ester compound, comprising transesterifying an alicyclic (meth)allyl ester monomer produced by a process as set forth in claim 1 or 2 with a polyhydric alcohol in the presence of a catalyst, said alicyclic (meth)allyl ester compound having a terminal structure of the following formula (1) and a repeating unit of the following formula (2).
- 4. An alicyclic (meth)allyl ester compound having a terminal structure of formula (1) and a repeating structure of formula (2), which is produced by a process as set forth in claim 3.
- 5. A plastic lens composition comprising an alicyclic (meth)allyl ester compound as set forth in claim 4.
- 6. The plastic lens composition as claimed in claim 5, which comprises, based on the entire curable component contained in the composition:
A) from 0.1 to 20% by mass of the alicyclic (meth)allyl ester compound, B) from 60 to 99.9% by mass of a compound represented by formula (7). 10wherein Z represents one or more organic residues derived from a polyhydric saturated alcohol having from 2 to 20 carbon atoms and containing hydroxyl groups in the number n, n represents an integer of 2 to 6, R2 represents an allyl group or a methallyl group, provided that each R2 is independent, s represents an integer of 0 to (n−1), t is an integer of 1 to n, and s+t=n.
- 7. The plastic lens composition as claimed in claim 5, which comprises, based on the entire curable component contained in the composition:
A) from 0.1 to 20% by mass of the alicyclic (meth)allyl ester compound, B) from 60 to 99.9% by mass of a compound represented by formula (7), and C) from 0 to 20% by mass of a monomer copolymerizable with the alicyclic (meth)allyl ester compound and/or the compound represented by formula (7). 11wherein Z represents one or more organic residues derived from a polyhydric saturated alcohol having from 2 to 20 carbon atoms and containing hydroxyl groups in the number n, n represents an integer of 2 to 6, R2 represents an allyl group or a methallyl group, provided that each R2 is independent, s represents an integer of 0 to (n−1), t is an integer of 1 to n, and s+t=n.
- 8. The plastic lens composition as claimed in claim 6 or 7, wherein the compound represented by formula (7) is diethylene glycol bis(allyl carbonate).
- 9. A plastic lens composition comprising 0.1 to 10 parts by mass of at least one radical polymerization initiator and 100.parts by mass of the plastic lens composition described in any one of claims 5 to 8.
- 10. The plastic leans composition as claimed in claim 9, wherein the at least one radical polymerization is diisopropylperoxy dicarbonate.
- 11. A plastic resin obtained by curing a plastic lens composition as set forth in any one of claims 5 to 10.
- 12. The plastic lens as claimed in claim 9, which has a refractive index at 25° C. of from 1.497 to 1.505.
- 13. A process for producing a plastic lens as set forth in claim 11 or 12, comprising curing a plastic lens composition as set forth in any one of claims 5 to 10.
- 14. The process as claimed in claim 10 or 11, wherein the plastic lens composition is cured by cast polymerization at a temperature of 30 to 120° C. for a time of 0.5 to 100 hours.
