Claims
- 1. A process for preparing an optically active compound of the formula: ##STR48## its optically active antipode, or a racemate thereof, comprising reacting an optically active compound of the formula: ##STR49## wherein ##STR50## forms a hydrolyzable ester group and --L is an organic sulfonyl leaving group;
- its optically active antipode, or a racemate thereof, with an alkali metal hydroxide in an aqueous medium.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein said hydroxide is sodium hydroxide.
- 3. A process for preparing an optically active compound of the formula: ##STR51## its optically active antipode, or racemate thereof, comprising reacting an optically active compound of the formula: ##STR52## its optically active antipode, or racemate thereof, with an acid halide of an organic sulfonic acid selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl sulfonic acids, aryl sulfonic acids, or aralkyl sulfonic acids, in the presence of an organic amine base solvent selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl amines and heterocyclic amine.
- 4. The process of claim 3 wherein said organic amine base is pyridine.
