Claims
- 1. A process for separating components of an azeotropic or azeotrope-like mixture comprising difluoromethane and 1,1,1-trifluoroethane in which said azeotropic or azeotrope-like mixture is contacted with a semipermeable membrane to form at least one exit stream having an increased concentration of at least one component of the azeotropic or azeotrope-like mixture and at least one other exit stream having an increased concentration of at least one other component of the azeotropic or azeotrope-like mixture and, thereafter, recovering at least one of said exit streams.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein the semipermeable membrane is made of a material selected from the group consisting of natural rubbers, ceramics, polyisoprenes, polybutenes, polybutedienes, polyimides, polyamids, aromatic-aliphatic polyamides, polyaramids, neoprenes and silicone elastomers.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein the contacting step is operated at a temperature of 1 to 150 degress Centigrade.
- 4. The process of claim 1 wherein the contacting step is operated with a pressure differential between the feed side and the permeate side of the semipermeable membrane of 0.1 to 10 atmospheres.
- 5. The process of claim 1 wherein the semipermeable membrane is in a shape selected from the group consisting of films, tubes, spirals, and hollow fibers.
