Claims
- 1. A process for the preparation and application in situ of a ready-to-use blend of structural material, the components of which blend comprise water and as essential ingredients at least one binder, at least one filler and at least one additive, said process comprising the steps of:
- (a) preparing a dry blend of at least one binder and at least one filler as a premixed blend;
- (b) adding to said premixed blend and thoroughly mixing therewith an aqueous solution of at least one additive and such amount of additional water required to impart to resulting mixtures a given viscosity;
- (c) extruding said resulting mixtures in the form of a core;
- (d) simultaneously with step (c) adding aqueous solution of the at least one additive in the form of a liquid cylindrical mantle concentrically surrounding said extruded core; and
- (e) transporting said extruded core with concentric mantle thereabout through an outlet tube to an application nozzle.
- 2. The process of claim 1, wherein the binder is at least one substance selected from the group consisting of cement, gypsum, magnesite and quick lime.
- 3. The process of claim 1, wherein the filler is at least one substance selected from the group consisting of sand, powdered rock, crushed marble, crushed dolomite, ground slag, fly ash, clay, china clay, expanded baked clay and foamed polystyrene.
- 4. The process of claim 1, wherein the additive is at least one substance selected from the group consisting of animal glue, vegetable glue, alkali metal alginate, soluble starch ether, cellulose ether, carboxymethyl cellulose, polyvinyl alcohol, polyacryl amide, fatty acid soap, lignin sulfonate, alkyl fatty acid sulfonate, alkyl phenyl sulfonate, polyethyleneoxide adduct, tartaric acid, citric acid and maleic acid.
- 5. The process of claim 1, wherein the proportion by weight of the components is so chosen, that in the finished blend the ratio by weight of binder to filler is between 5 to 95 and 99 to 1 and the ratio by weight of the sum of solids to water is between 90 to 10 and 67 to 33.
- 6. The process of claim 1, wherein the fraction of the additives in the total of the finished blend is between 0.01 and 3 percents by weight.
- 7. The process of claim 1, wherein the amount of aqueous additive solution added in step (d) is so chosen that the thickness of the liquid mantle about the extruded core is between 0.5 and 2 millimeters.
- 8. The process of claim 1, wherein the mixing and application steps are carried out batch-wise.
- 9. The process of claim 1, wherein the mixing and application steps are carried out by continuous operation.
- 10. A process for the preparation and application in situ of a ready-to-use blend of structural material, the components of which blend comprise water and as essential ingredient at least one binder, at least one filler and at least one additive, said process comprising the steps of;
- (a) preparing a dry blend of at least one binder and at least one filler as a premixed blend;
- (b) adding to said premixed blend and thoroughly mixing therewith an aqueous solution of at least one additive and such amount of additional water required to impart to resulting mixtures a given viscosity;
- (c) extruding said resulting mixtures in the form of a core;
- (d) simultaneously with step (c) adding aqueous solution of the at least one additive in the form of a liquid cylindrical mantle concentrically surrounding said extruded core;
- (e) transporting said extruded core with concentric mantle thereabout through an outlet tube to an applicator nozzle; and
- (f) injecting pressurized air into said transported core with concentric mantle immediately upstream of said applicator nozzle.
- 11. The process of claim 10, wherein in step (f) there is injected, in the form of airborne fine particles, a solution of silicone in an organic solvent or in a mixture of water and organic solvent, into the stream of pressurised air, the amount of silicone solution being so chosen that, with a concentration of 10% by weight of silicone in the solution, between 0.01 and 1 g of silicone is applied for each square meter of the finished blend of the structural material applied as a layer.
