Claims
- 1. Process for the preparation of crystals of berlinite A1PO.sub.4 by a hydrothermal method, wherein the crystallization solution is an aqueous sulfuric solution of AlPO.sub.4 and the crystallization temperature is in the range of about 190.degree. C. to about 300.degree. C.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein the crystals of berlinite AlPO.sub.4 have a Q factor of at least 50,000 when measured at 5 MHz in the fundamental mode.
- 3. Process according to claim 1, wherein the crystallization solution is a solution of AlPO.sub.4 in a mixture of H.sub.2 SO.sub.4 and H.sub.3 PO.sub.4.
- 4. Process according to claim 1, wherein the crystallization solution is a solution of AlPO.sub.4 in H.sub.2 SO.sub.4.
- 5. Process according to claim 1 wherein the crystallization solution and the mother-body are prepared by the action of H.sub.3 PO.sub.4 on hydrated aluminum sulfate to obtain directly at the end of the reaction the mother-body in the crystallization solution.
- 6. Process according to claim 5 wherein the reaction is conducted in the presence of H.sub.2 SO.sub.4.
- 7. Process according to claim 5, wherein the reaction is carried out in the crystallization vessel which will serve for the practicing of the hydrothermal method.
- 8. Process according to claim 1 wherein the crystallization vessel is filled to 80-85% of its volume by the crystallization solution.
- 9. Process according to claim 1 wherein the crystallization temperature is in the range of from about 200.degree. C. to about 260.degree. C.
