Claims
- 1. In the process for the synthesis of mordenite from a forming solution containing a mixture of alumina, silica, alkali metal oxide and water, the improvement which comprises adding a metal complex selected from the group consisting of cobalt phthalocyanine; (o-phenanthroline).sub.3 FeClO.sub.4 ; Ru(bipyridyl).sub.3 Cl.sub.2 and Ni(bipyridyl).sub.3 ClO.sub.4 to the reaction mixture and maintaining the same at a temperature of from 100.degree. F. to about 400.degree. F. until crystals of mordenite are formed with the proviso that when cobalt phthalocyanine is used the OH.sup.- /SiO.sub.2 ratio of the forming solution is 0.6.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein the metal complex is cobalt phthalocyanine.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein the metal complex is (o-phenanthroline).sub.3 FeClO.sub.4.
- 4. The process of claim 1 wherein the metal complex is Ru(bipyridyl).sub.3 Cl.sub.2.
- 5. The process of claim 1 wherein the metal complex is Ni(bipyridyl).sub.3 ClO.sub.4.
