Claims
- 1. A precipitated silica having:
- a CTAB specific surface of between 90 and 250 m.sup.2 /g,
- a DOP oil uptake lower than 300 ml/100 g,
- a pore distribution and a pore volume such that the pore volume consisting of the pores whose diameter is between 175 and 275 .ANG. represents less than 50% of the pore volume consisting of the pores of diameters which are smaller than or equal to 400 .ANG., and
- a zinc content of between 1 and 5% by weight, said silica being in the form selected from the group consisting of spherical beads with a mean size of at least 80 .mu.m, a powder with a mean size of at least 15 .mu.m, and granules of at least 1 mm in size.
- 2. A silica according to claim 1, wherein the zinc is not in crystalline form.
- 3. A silica according to claim 1, wherein the zinc content is between 1.5 and 4% by weight.
- 4. A silica according to claim 1, wherein the CTAB specific surface is between 90 and 185 m.sup.2 /g.
- 5. A silica according to claim 1, further having a median diameter (.O slashed..sub.50), after disintegration with ultrasound, smaller than 8.5 .mu.m.
- 6. A silica according to claim 5, wherein the CTAB specific surface is between 90 and 140 m.sup.2 /g, and the median diameter (.O slashed..sub.50), after disintegration with ultrasound, is smaller than 4.5 .mu.m.
- 7. A silica according to claim 1, wherein the CTAB specific surface is between 140 and 185 m.sup.2 /g.
- 8. A silica according to claim 1, further having an ultrasonic disintegration factor (F.sub.D) higher than 5.5 ml.
- 9. A silica according to claim 5, wherein the CTAB specific surface is higher than 185 m.sup.2 /g and lower than 220 m.sup.2 /g.
- 10. A silica according to claim 9, wherein it has an ultrasonic disintegration factor (F.sub.D) higher than 5.5 ml.
- 11. A silica according to claim 1, wherein said silica is in the form of spherical beads and wherein the mean size of said spherical beads is at least 150 .mu.m.
- 12. An elastomer comprising, as reinforcing filler, a silica according to claim 1.
