Claims
- 1. A process for the preparation of a compound of formula I ##STR19## wherein X is ##STR20## and each of R.sub.1 to R.sub.5 independently of the other is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, which process comprises reacting 5-formyl-.alpha.-pyrone, in the presence of an organic solvent, with an amine of the formula II
- HN(R.sub.6) (R.sub.7) (II)
- to give a compound of the formula III ##STR21## reacting said compound of the formula (III) with a compound of the formula IV ##STR22## in which formulae X is as defined for formula I, each of R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 independently of the other is straight chain or branched alkyl which contains up to 10 carbon atoms and is unsubstituted or substituted by an OH group, or R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 together are --C.sub.p H.sub.2 -- or --(CH.sub.2).sub.2 --O--(CH.sub.2).sub.2, and p is an integer from 2 to 22.
- 2. A process according to claim 1 wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 are hydrogen and R.sub.3 and R.sub.5 are methyl, or each of R.sub.1 to R.sub.5 is hydrogen.
