Claims
- 1. A method for forming an image on a printing plate, the method comprising:depositing a liquid comprising at least one reactant of a resin-producing reaction mixture onto the surface of the plate, whereby the reactant deposited onto the surface of the plate comes in contact with a remaining reactant or reactants necessary to complete the resin-producing reaction mixture; wherein: the liquid is deposited in a predetermined image producing manner using at least one ink jet printer head; and the resin-producing reaction mixture hardens on contact with the plate.
- 2. The method of claim 1 in which the predetermined image-reproducing manner comprises(a) introducing into a computer central processing unit digital information corresponding to the pattern of the image; and operating the ink let printer head in connection with the computer and with means to convert the digital information to mechanical, image-descriptive movements of the inkjet printer head.
- 3. The method of claim 1 in which the reactant in the liquid is a resin-producing monomer or prepolymer.
- 4. The method of claim 3 in which the remaining reactant necessary to complete the resin-producing reaction mixture is a resin-producing polymerization catalyst for the resin-producing monomer or prepolymer.
- 5. The method of claim 4 in which the printing plate comprises a substrate having a grained aluminum surface or a surface anodized with sulfuric acid or phosphoric acid.
- 6. The method of claim 1 in which the resin is a hydrophobic resin.
- 7. A printing plate produced according to the method of claim 1.
- 8. The printing plate of claim 7 in which the at least one reactant is an acid-inhibited cyanoacrylate.
- 9. The method of claim 1 in which the at least one reactant is an acid-inhibited cyanoacrylate.
- 10. The method of claim 9 in which the printing plate comprises a pumice grained aluminum substrate having a silicated interlayer.
- 11. A method for forming an image on a printing plate, the method comprising:depositing a liquid comprising at least one reactant of a resin-producing reaction mixture onto the surface of the plate, whereby the reactant deposited onto the surface of the plate comes in contact with a remaining reactant or reactants necessary to complete the resin-producing reaction mixture; wherein: the liquid is deposited in a predetermined image producing manner using at least one ink let printer head; and the liquid comprises a hardenable material that hardens anaerobically.
- 12. The method of claim 11 in which the printing plate comprises a grained aluminum substrate.
- 13. A printing plate produced by the method of claim 7.
