Claims
- 1. A method for the production of compounds of formula III ##STR9## wherein R is ##STR10## X is a group cleavable by an activating agent, wherein R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are groups which stabilize dioxetan structure, or one of R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 is a group which stabilizes dioxetan structure and the other is hydrogen, comprising reacting a compound of formula IV or IVa ##STR11## wherein R.sub.3 is a straight-chained or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, with a compound of formula V ##STR12## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are hydrogen or a straight-chained or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, together with aldehydes or ketones in the presence of an alkyllithium compound while excluding water and air,
- decarboxylating the reaction product,
- dealkylating the alkoxy residue,
- introducing a cleavable group --O--X at the position of the dealkylated alkoxy group and photo oxygenating the product.
- 2. The process of claim 1 comprising introducing the aldehyde or ketone residue in an aprotic organic solvent in the absence of air and while simultaneously cooling to temperatures between -50 and -100.degree. C.
- 3. A method for the production of compounds of formula III ##STR13## wherein R is ##STR14## X is a group cleavable by an activating agent, wherein R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are groups which stabilize dioxetan structure, or one of R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 is a group which stabilizes dioxetan structure and the other is hydrogen,
- comprising reacting a compound of formula IV or IVa ##STR15## wherein R.sub.3 is a straight-chained or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, with a compounds of formula V ##STR16## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are hydrogen or a straight-chained or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl,
- reducing the thiazoline carboxylic acid so obtained to a thiazoline-4-one,
- converting the thiazoline-4-one into a thiazolin-4-thione with sulfide,
- reacting the thione with an aldehyde or ketone hydrazone;
- dealkylating the alkoxy residue,
- introducing a cleavable group --O--X at the position of the dealkylated position and photo oxygenating the product.
- 4. A method for the production of compounds of formula III ##STR17## wherein R is ##STR18## and X is a group cleavable by an activating agent, wherein one or both of R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are phenyl, comprising
- reacting a compound of formula IV or IVa ##STR19## in which R.sub.3 is a straight-chained or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, with a compound of formula V ##STR20## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 in each case are the same or different and are hydrogen or a straight-chained or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl,
- reducing the thiazoline carboxylic acid so obtained to form a thiazoline-4-one, introducing R.sub.4 or R.sub.5 by means of a Grignard reaction,
- introducing a double bond at the 4 position of the thiazoline ring,
- dealkylating the alkoxy residue,
- introducing a cleavable group --O--X at the position of the dealkylated position and photo oxygenating to obtain the compound of formula III.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein the aldehyde or ketone is adamantone, benzaldehyde, cyclohexanone or secondary or tertiary aliphatic aldehydes or ketones.
- 6. The method of claim 1 wherein R.sub.3 is methyl or ethyl in compound IV or IVa.
- 7. The method of claim 1, comprising forming 4-(2'-adamantyliadene-alkoxyphenyl-5,5-dimethyl) thiazoline prior to compound III.
- 8. The method of claim 1, comprising forming 4-benzyl-4-hydroxy-alkoxyphenyl-5,5-dimethyl thiazoline.
- 9. The method of claim 1, wherein compound III is designated 1-2-(2"-spiroadamantyl)-dioxetan.
- 10. The method of claim 1 wherein the aldehyde or ketone is adamantone-2-hydrazone or benzaldehyde hydrazone.
