Claims
- 1. The process comprising the step of reacting a compound having the structure: ##STR15## with a mineral acid selected from the group consisting of dilute aqueous hydrochloric acid, dilute aqueous sulfuric acid or dilute aqueous phosphoric acid thereby forming a compound having the structure: ##STR16## wherein R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein the reaction carried out is: ##STR17##
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein the reaction is carried out in the presence of an inert solvent selected from the group consisting of hexane and cyclohexane at a temperature in the range of from 15.degree. C. up to 70.degree. C.
