Claims
- 1. A method of sizing a vinyl siding extrudate comprising the steps of extruding a vinyl thermoplastic material through an extruder of the type containing a vinyl chloride polymer at a temperature higher than 380.degree. F., simultaneously sizing and cooling the extrudate from said extruder, thence heating the entire extrudate to remove the stresses therefrom, and thence quenching said extrudate.
- 2. A method of sizing as set forth in claim 1 wherein the extrudate is cooled to a temperature above 180.degree. F. and thereafter said heating of said entire extrudate is to a temperature having a range of from 190.degree. F. to 230.degree. F.
- 3. A method of sizing as set forth in claim 2 wherein said quenching is in a liquid bath to bring the extrudate to a temperature below 90.degree. F.
- 4. A method of sizing a vinyl siding extrudate comprising the steps of extruding a shaped vinyl thermoplastic material from a die with the extrudate of the type containing a vinyl chloride polymer having a temperature above 390.degree. F., simultaneously cooling and sizing said extrudate to a temperature having a range from 180.degree. F. to 250.degree. F., thence stress relieving said extrudate by directing said extrudate into a water bath to maintain the temperature as it leaves said water bath, and thence quenching said extrudate.
