Claims
- 1. A method for processing meat for a customer comprising:
receiving a selected specification for a meat product from a buyer device via a communication network with a seller device; and processing meat in response to instructions from the seller device to provide a meat product having said selected specification.
- 2. The method of claims 1 wherein said selected specification is intended to satisfy a buyer using said buyer device.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein said selected specification is selected from the group consisting of lean content, fat content, and water content.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein said selected specification is selected from the group consisting of weight, quantity, cut, and size.
- 5. The process of claim 1 further comprising:
transmitting information relating to available specifications for meat products from said seller device to said buyer device via a communication network.
- 6. The process of claim 5 wherein said selected specification is selected from said available specifications.
- 7. The process of claim 1 further wherein:
said meat is processed by adjusting the fat content and/or lean content of the meat product to provide a meat product with a fat or lean content limited by said selected specification.
- 8. The process of claim 1 further comprising:
transmitting weather information to said seller device via a communication network; selecting a package for said meat product in response to instructions from said seller device based on said weather information; and packaging said meat product in a selected package.
- 9. The process of claim 1 further comprising:
transmitting transportation information to said seller device via a communication network; selecting a package for said meat product in response to instructions from said seller device based on said transportation information; and packaging said meat product in said selected package.
- 10. The method of processing meat for a customer wherein said goods have at least one determined variable, comprising:
exposing said meat to a gas having an oxygen content different from air; exposing said meat to an agent capable of inhibiting growth of bacteria on said perishable goods, said agent including water; adjusting at least one variable in a quantity of said meat by combining selected amounts of meat having at least one variable; and testing said meat for the presence of bacteria.
- 11. The method of claim 1 wherein said goods are beef.
- 12. The method of claim 1 wherein said variable is water.
- 13. The method of claim 10 wherein said variable is adjusted in response to a customer order.
- 14. The method of claim 13 wherein said variable is selected from the group consisting of lean content, fat content, and water content.
- 15. A method of processing and packaging meat according to a buyer's specifications, the method comprising:
receiving the buyer's specifications, including at least one variable selected from the group consisting of quantity, delivery time, fat content, and size, automatically controlling at least one parameter of a meat processing equipment to meet the buyer's specifications; determining whether an estimated delivery time to the buyer's desired destination will exceed the amount of time which the meat can endure without undergoing substantial oxidation or significant deterioration; and packaging the meat in a master container when the estimated delivery time to the buyer's desired destination will be in excess of the amount of time which the meat can endure without undergoing substantial oxidation or significant deterioration.
- 16. The method of claim 15, further comprising packaging the meat in a master container if the estimated delivery time exceeds about 6 to 9 days.
- 17. The method of claim 15, wherein the meat is selected from the group consisting of beef, fish, poultry and pork.
- 18. The method of claim 15, further comprising the step of:
invoicing the buyer using a measuring device downstream of a meat grinder in the meat processing equipment.
- 19. The method of claim 15, wherein the meat is processed in a suitable gas.
- 20. The method of claim 15, wherein the meat is processed with predetermined concentrations of carbon dioxide.
- 21. A system for processing and packaging meat, according to a buyer's specifications, comprising:
a processing unit; and a storage medium coupled to the processing unit, the storage medium containing programming code executed by the processing unit for automatically controlling the rate of at least one meat processing variable to meet the buyer's specifications and determining whether an estimated delivery time to the buyer's desired destination will exceed the amount of time which the meat can endure without undergoing substantial oxidation, and directing a packaging apparatus to package the meat in a master container when the estimated delivery time will be in excess of the amount of time which the meat can endure without undergoing substantial oxidation.
