Claims
- 1. A household mixing appliance, comprising:a mixing motor; a food mixing member driven by said mixing motor; a motor control and monitoring circuit for controlling said motor; a motor speed monitor coupled to said circuit; a motor torque sensor coupled to said circuit; and a motor speed profile coupled to said circuit, and comprising a speed profile portion for gradually increasing motor speed upon starting said mixing motor to minimize splattering of ingredients in the mixing appliance.
- 2. The mixing appliance of claim 1, wherein said motor speed profile comprises a speed profile portion for gradually decreasing said motor speed prior to stopping said mixing motor.
- 3. The mixing appliance of claim 1, wherein said circuit removes power from said mixing motor upon receiving a signal produced by said torque sensor.
- 4. The mixing appliance of claim 3, wherein said signal is initiated by a rise in current drawn by said mixing motor.
- 5. The mixing appliance of claim 4, wherein said rise in current is due to an obstruction in said mixing appliance.
- 6. The mixing appliance of claim 1, wherein said torque sensor detects changes in the condition of a material being mixed.
- 7. The mixing appliance of claim 6, wherein said circuit removes power from said mixing motor upon receiving a signal originating from said torque sensor indicating a substantially constant current drawn by said mixing motor.
- 8. The mixing appliance of claim 1, further comprising a weight sensor for weighing material to be mixed in said mixing appliance.
