In general, the embodiments described herein relate to a product and method for instructing football throwing and catching techniques. An improved football may include a combination of colored printed matter and images on a football to help dictate hand placement for proper throwing. An improved football may also include a combination of colored prints or images that supports concentration and focus during catching a football. In this way, visual indicators may functionally improve the football by improving teachability, concentration, and focus during the throwing and catching process.
As non-limiting examples, the colored prints or images may include colored shapes, numbers, letters, images, symbols, or other visual indicators for a user to focus on when throwing or catching a ball. Visual indicators may include hand, finger, digit, or appendage outlines or shapes to indicate where hand and digit placement should be when throwing a ball. According to some embodiments, visual indicators may be placed on either side of football laces or strings to outline hand placement for optimal grip and positioning for throwing.
According to some embodiments, a method may include a user, in the role of a thrower, placing their fingers or hand on an outlined hand image over the laces or strings of a football. The thrower user make view the visual indicators on the front of the ball, we're in the front of the ball corresponds to the direction the ball will be thrown. The throwing user will identify at least one visual indicator to be subsequently confirmed with a catching user during the throw and catch process. The throwing user may throw the ball and communicate the identified visual indicator to the catching user. The catching user may watch the ball and identify the identified visual indicator, focusing on at least one of colored shapes, numbers, letters, images, symbols, or the like during travel of the ball. The catching user may catch the ball in communicate the identified visual indicator to the throwing user. In this way, the throwing user may use correct hand placement, communication, and concentration to make an accurate throw. The catching user may increase focus on the ball by requiring continuous focus on visual indicators during ball travel and proper catching technique.
