Claims
- 1. A process to produce a compound of the formula ##STR6## wherein X and Y are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen and trifluoromethyl,
- which consists essentially of the reaction of a compound of the formula ##STR7## wherein X and Y are as above with (A) a mixture of mercuric sulfate and a C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 carboxylic acid in an inert solvent at from about -10.degree. C. to room temperature, or
- (B) concentrated sulfuric acid at from about -10.degree. C. to room temperature.

This is a division of application Ser. No. 150,509 filed May 16, 1980, now U.S. Pat. No. 4,318,854, which is a continuation-in-part application of U.S. patent application Ser. No. 10,118, filed Feb. 7, 1979, now abandoned.
