Claims
- 1. A process to produce a compound of the formula ##STR6## wherein X and Y are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen and trifluoromethyl, which consists essentially of the reaction of a compound of the formula ##STR7## wherein X and Y are as above, with a mixture of a catalytic amount of mercuric sulfate and an excess of a C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 carboxylic acid in an inert solvent at from about -10.degree. C. to room temperature.

This is a division, of application Ser. No. 150,509 filed May 16, 1980, now U.S. Pat. No. 4,318,854, issued Mar. 9, 1982, which is a continuation-in-part application of copending U.S. patent application Ser. No. 10,118, filed Feb. 7, 1979, abandoned.
