Description
FIELD OF INVENTION

The present invention relates to bedding, and more particularly the present invention relates to a sleeping bag.

BACKGROUND

Good sleep is essential for healthy life and a good sleeping environment is essential for good sleep. Bedding plays an important role in a good sleeping environment. First and most important, the bedding should be clean and hygienic. It is common that during travel or sleeping in shared beds, a person may have to use unhygienic beddings. Besides hygiene, a person may be allergic to certain materials of the bedding. Also, the bedding may affect skin and hairs, such as rubbing off coatings on the skin or frizzy hair after sleep. Sometimes, a person may be wearing make-up or had a skin treatment, such as a tan spray, and desires that the bedding does not ruin the make-up or skin treatment. Bodily oils or massage oils can be absorbed by cotton bed sheets. The skin treatment may also stain the bedding. Thus, a need is there for a sleeping bag that can provide a hygienic and isolated sleeping environment.

Sleeping bags are known in the art. These are usually designed for the outdoors and made from thick material. Sleeping bags are generally made for normal temperature, cold, and extremely cold temperature usage. A sleeping bag for a cold climate cannot be used in warm weather. The sleeping bag for normal weather feels warm because of the thick material. Additionally, the material of the known sleeping bags is not skin-friendly and affects the skin or any coatings on the skin. Prior art sleeping bags are cumbersome, heavy, difficult to carry, unroll, or rolled back for storage.

Thus, a desire is there for a sleeping bag that is devoid of the above drawbacks of the prior art sleeping bags and provides an isolated and hygienic sleeping environment.

Disclosed is a sleeping bag that is compact and portable and can be easily carried. The sleeping bag is ideally suited for home use, travel, and sleeping in shared beds. The disclosed sleeping bag can be easily rolled into an attached pouch for storage. The sleeping bag can provide an isolated and hygienic sleeping environment.

Referring to FIG. 1-3, which shows a top-perspective view of the sleeping bag 100. The sleeping bag can have a proximal end and a distal end. A base sheet 110 can extend along the length of the sleeping bag. The length of the sleeping bag can be varied based on the age and height of the user. The proximal end of the sleeping bag 100 can have a pillow housing 120. The pillow housing can be made by folding the base sheet. Alternatively, a separate sheet of the size of the pillow housing can be coupled to the base sheet forming the pillow housing. Three sides of the pillow housing can be sewn/bonded while the fourth side can form an opening for receiving a pillow. The opening can be on the left or right side of the sleeping bag. FIG. 3 shows the opening 310 of the pillow housing that opens on the side of the sleeping bag. Any standard-size pillow can be easily inserted into the pillow housing.

A top sheet 130 bonds with the base sheet 110 to form the bag. The top sheet 130 can extends from the distal end of the sleeping bag up to near the pillow housing. Three edges of the top sheet 130 can bond with the three edges of the base sheet 110 to form the bag. Three edges include a bottom edge, a left edge, and a right edge. The front edge of the top sheet near the pillow housing is not bonded and forms an opening of the bag. A person can enter the sleeping bag through this opening. The top sheet can be sewn or bonded with the base sheet.

A cover sheet 140 can extend from the front edge of the top sheet 130. The cover sheet 140 can fold over the top sheet, such as to sandwich bedding like a blanket between the cover sheet 140 and the top sheet 130. The length of the cover sheet 140 can be about a quarter length of the top sheet. Corners of the cover sheet 140 can have first fasteners 150 that can be fastened to the second fastener 160. The second fasteners 160 can extend from the base sheet and allows the cover sheet 140 to removably coupled with the base sheet 110. In one case, the first fasteners and the second fasteners can be cords. FIGS. 1 and 2 show the cords as the first fastener and the second fastener. In one case, the cover sheet and the top sheet can be continuous. Alternatively, the cover sheet can be bonded to the front edge of the top sheet along the periphery of the opening of the bag.

A pouch 170 can also be provided at the distal end. FIG. 1 shows pouch 170 at the left side corner of the distal end of the sleeping bag 100. FIG. 4 shows a magnified view of pouch 170. The pouch can have a rear wall and front wall. The rear wall of the pouch can be bonded to the base sheet. The pouch can be bonded/sewn to the base sheet or the base sheet can be continued to form the pouch. FIG. 4 shows the pouch opening 400 through which the sleeping bag can be rolled and inserted into the pouch. The sleeping bag in the pouch can be compact for storage and transport.

FIG. 2 shows a person 200 sleeping in the disclosed sleeping bag 100. Pillow is inserted in the pillow housing 120 for providing a comfortable position to the head and neck. The pillow housing can fully cover the pillow thus preventing any contact of the person 200 with the pillow. A blanket 210 can also be seen in FIG. 2 covering the person for warmth. The cover sheet 140 can be seen folded over a portion of the blanket 210, such as to prevent any contact between person 200 and the blanket 210. Thus, the disclosed sleeping bag can provide an isolated and hygienic sleeping environment. The person sleeping in the disclosed sleeping bag 100 does not comes in contact with the bedding either the bed sheet, pillow, or blanket.

The disclosed sleeping bag can be made from a breathable material that can be neutral to the skin and hair. The material may not rub off or absorb any coatings of the body or bodily secretions. Moreover, the material can be lubricious that smoothens the rubbing of the body with the sleeping bag. In one case, faux silk can be used that does not absorb skin coatings like spray tanning on the body. Spray tanning composition including dihydroxyacetone (DHA) are known. Faux silk is a polyester can keep the tan and other skincare products from absorbing off the skin into bedding. Oil coatings or secretions may also not absorb by the disclosed sleeping bag. Being neutral to hairs, no frizzy hairs in the morning. The hairstyling may be preserved substantially while sleeping. An isolated environment provided by the sleeping bag prevents soiling or staining of the beddings from bodily coatings or secretions. The coating can be make-up, massage oils, lotions, and body cosmetics. The disclosed sleeping bag can be made of a material that prevent staining of bedsheets from skin care products including the spray tanning cosmetics.

While the foregoing written description of the invention enables one of ordinary skill to make and use what is considered presently to be the best mode thereof, those of ordinary skill will understand and appreciate the existence of variations, combinations, and equivalents of the specific embodiment, method, and examples herein. The invention should therefore not be limited by the above-described embodiment, method, and examples, but by all embodiments and methods within the scope and spirit of the invention as claimed.
