The present invention relates to a drowning prevention device for use in the shower, designed primarily for people suffering from Epilepsy.
The said invention has no direct art wherein finding documentation very difficult.
The nearest art is a pull string alarm seen in some hotel bathrooms, the string when pulled signals the front desk to which a hotel worker first calls and if no answer takes a key and lets themselves in. This alarm requires you to be conscious to operate and does not stop water flow and depends on the availability of the front desk staff.
The PSSOV Device invention is new, novel and needed, the people afflicted with cognitive or muscular afflictions are at a rate 10 times higher than un-afflicted people for accidents in the bathroom.
The need for this device is undeniable and the statistic's sadly accurate.
It is reported that Epilepsy claims 88 people every day due to drowning in and around the bathroom.
Those suffering from Parkinson's and Multiple sclerosis are also at risk.
Our elderly have ⅔rds of their serious injuries in and around the bathtub or the shower.
The devastation of losing a family member so quickly when it can be prevented.
The cost to the family and the government. Loss of income for the family and the expenditure of a drowning investigation.
Having to monitor or to be monitored is a duty and a stress every day.
To become depressed because you are so dependent on others and a focal point of worry
The preferred embodiment of the invention, that of allowing an afflicted person the independence to attach the device to themselves and be kept safe.
To simply have a shower whenever they want.
In order to manage the problems described the present invention is directed at reducing the number of drowning and serious water related accidents in the home.
It is a safety device that utilizes body weight in a fall to turn the water off when you can't.
It is an object of the present invention to be easily installed by a qualified contractor or if handy yourself.
Another object of the present invention is to use common non-electric devices arranged in a lifesaving order.
Further object of the present invention is to be small but of the finest quality.
In certain embodiments, the shower stall type will relate to the choice of cable guide used.
In certain embodiments, wherein a fiberglass shower stall will be fitted, the use of a cable guide is recommended.
In certain embodiments installation on older homes is recommended with the use of a cable bar.
In certain embodiments like a rental apartment or house where you don't or can't drill or make permanent the use of one or more cable guides is recommended.
In certain embodiments, an old age home would be fitted
In other embodiments a hotel, a group home, a hospital would seek benefit's from said device.
The said device covers many safety aspects and it is reusable and adjustable to any height.

The present invention is a safety device which comprises the use of certain devices arranged in a life saving order. The design works towards a useful and attainable system to reduce drowning and serious injury in the shower. The device can be made from any suitable material and is made using state of the art CNC Milling machines. This is a safety device

This allows free movement in the slide release tube 103 while capturing both ends. The slide release tube 103 remains still and the rod 104 slides connected by the activation cable 107 to valve arm 113, when you fall the lanyard 101 and rod 104 move as one held together by the tube diameter until reaching the open end of the slide release tube 103 wherein the lanyard 101 and rod 104 are released from each other. The opposite end of the rod 104 is comprised by the said 107 activation wire and secured by one or more set screws.
In the action of a fall said device uses weight to turn the water valve off allowing a safe environment for the user to regain consciousness.
