Claims
- 1. Apparatus for preventing hydraulic lock when running a drill string into a borehole comprising:a plurality of ports which are formed in the circumference of the drill string; an annular piston surrounding said ports, said annular piston being attached to the drill string by shear pins.
- 2. Apparatus for relieving a hydraulic lock condition when running a drill string into a borehole, comprising:a plurality of ports which are formed in the circumference of the drill string; and an annular piston which surrounds said ports on the outside of the drill string, which is attached to the drill string by shear pins, and which moves downwardly to uncover said ports when the shear pins are sheared as a result of the pressure differential created by the hydraulic lock condition.
