Abstract

A puppet kit for entertainment includes a plurality of plates. The plates are substantially planar. Each plate is shaped to resemble a respective animal, such as an elephant, a monkey, and a mouse. Each of a plurality of backdrops is configured to position on a substantially horizontal surface proximate to a respective plate. The backdrop depicts a landscape that is associated with the respective animal represented by the respective plate.

The disclosure and prior art relates to puppet kits and more particularly pertains to a new puppet kit for entertainment.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising includes a plurality of plates. The plates are substantially planar. Each plate is shaped to resemble a respective animal, such as an elephant, a monkey, and a mouse. Each of a plurality of backdrops is configured to position on a substantially horizontal surface proximate to a respective plate. The backdrop depicts a landscape that is associated with the respective animal represented by the respective plate.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new puppet kit embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the puppet kit 10 generally comprises a plurality of plates 12. The plates 12 are substantially planar. Each plate 12 is shaped to resemble a respective animal, such as an elephant, a monkey, and a mouse. In one embodiment, each of the plates 12 is substantially dimensionally equivalent. In another embodiment, each plate 12 is textured so that an exterior 14 of the plate 12 resembles an outer covering, such as skin and fur, of the respective animal represented by the plate 12. In yet another embodiment, each plate 12 is colored so that the exterior 14 of the plate 12 resembles a pattern, such as strips and spots, of the respective animal represented by the plate 12.

Each of a plurality of handles 16 is reversibly couplable to a respective plate 12. The handle 16 is configured to be grasped in a hand of a user to motivate the plate 12. In one embodiment, each handle 16 comprises a slat 18. The slat 18 has a first end 20. The first end 20 is complementary to a first slot 22 that is positioned in a bottom 24 of the respective plate 12. The first slot 22 is positioned to insert the first end 20 of the slat 18 to couple the slat 18 to the respective plate 12. The slat 18 has a second end 26. In one embodiment, the second end 26 is arcuately flanged such that the second end 26 is dimensionally wider than the first end 20.

Each of a plurality of bases 28 is reversibly couplable to the second end 26 of a respective slat 18. The base 28 extends perpendicularly from the respective slat 18. The base 28 is configured to vertically position the respective slat 18 and the respective plate 12 on a substantially horizontal surface. In one embodiment, the bases 28 are substantially rectangularly box shaped. Each base 28 has opposing ends 30. In another embodiment, the opposing ends 30 are rounded.

Each base 28 comprises a second slot 32 that is positioned in an upper surface 34 of the base. The second slot 32 is complementary to the second end 26 of the respective slat 18. The second slot 32 is positioned to insert the second end 26 of the respective slat 18 to couple the respective slat 18 to the base. In one embodiment, the second slot 32 is substantially rectangularly box shaped.

The kit 10 comprises a plurality of backdrops 36. Each backdrop 36 is configured to position on the substantially horizontal surface proximate to a respective plate 12.

Each backdrop 36 depicts a landscape that is associated with the respective animal represented by the respective plate 12. In one embodiment, each backdrop 36 comprises a pair of panels 38. Each panel 38 has an inside edge 40. The inside edges 40 are hingedly coupled. The pair of panels 38 are configured to selectively position in an open configuration, wherein the panels 38 are configured to position on the substantially horizontal surface, proximate to the respective plate 12, with the panels 38 positioned substantially perpendicularly to the substantially horizontal surface. The panels 38 also are configured to selectively position in a closed configuration, wherein the panels 38 are adjacently positioned. In another embodiment, each of the pair of panels 38 is substantially rectangularly shaped.

In use, the first slots 22 are positioned to insert the first ends 20 of the slats 18 to couple the slats 18 to the plates 12. The slats 18 are configured to be grasped in the hands of the user for motivating the plates 12 for entertainment. The second slots 32 are positioned to insert the second ends 26 of the slats 18 to couple the slats 18 to the bases 28. The pairs of panels 38 is configured to selectively position in the open configuration. The panels 38 are configured to position on the substantially horizontal surface proximate to a respective plate 12 with the panels 38 positioned substantially perpendicularly to the substantially horizontal surface. The panels 38 also are configured to selectively position in the closed configuration, wherein the panels 38 are adjacently positioned.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

1. A puppet kit comprising: a plurality of plates, said plates being substantially planar, each said plate being shaped such that said plate resembles a respective animal;a plurality of handles, each said handle being reversibly couplable to a respective said plate, wherein said handle is positioned on said respective said plate such that said handle is configured for grasping in a hand of a user for motivating said plate, each said handle comprising a slat, said slat having a first end, said first end being complementary to a first slot positioned in a bottom of said respective said plate, wherein said first slot is positioned in said respective said plate such that said first slot is positioned for inserting said first end of said slat for coupling said slat to said respective said plate, said slat having a second end, said second end being arcuately flanged such that said second end is dimensionally wider than said first end, said slat having straight opposed side edges extending from said first end, each of said straight opposed side edges having a length greater than a depth of said first slot wherein a portion of said straight opposed side edges is exposed such that said slat is configured to facilitate said slat being grasped under said plate when said first end is fully inserted into said first slot;a plurality of bases, each said base being couplable to said second end of a respective said slat such that said base holds said respective slat in a fixed perpendicular orientation extending from said base, wherein said base is positioned on said respective said slat such that said base is configured for vertically positioning said respective said slat and said respective said plate on the substantially horizontal surface; anda plurality of backdrops, each said backdrop being configured for positioning on a substantially horizontal surface proximate to a respective said plate, said backdrop depicting a landscape associated with the respective animal represented by said respective said plate.

2. The kit of claim 1, further including each of said plates being substantially dimensionally equivalent.

3. The kit of claim 1, further including each said plate being textured such that an exterior of said plate resembles an outer covering of the respective animal represented by said plate.

4. The kit of claim 1, further including each said plate being colored such that an exterior of said plate resembles a pattern of the respective animal represented by said plate.

9. The kit of claim 1, further including said bases being substantially rectangularly box shaped.

10. The kit of claim 9, further including each said base having opposing ends, said opposing ends being rounded.

The kit of claim 1, further including each said base comprising a second slot positioned in an upper surface of said base, said second slot having closed ends and being complementary in shape to said second end of said respective said slat, wherein said second slot is positioned in said base such that said second slot is positioned for inserting said second end of said respective said slat for coupling said respective said slat to said base and restricting lateral movement of said slat relative to said base when said second end of said slat is fully inserted into said second slot in said base.

12. The kit of claim 11, further including said second slot being substantially rectangularly box shaped.

The kit of claim 1, further including each said backdrop comprising a pair of panels, each said panel having an inside edge, said inside edges being hingedly coupled such that said pair of panels is configured for selectively positioning in an open configuration, wherein said panels are configured for positioning on the substantially horizontal surface proximate to said respective said plate with said panels positioned substantially perpendicularly to the substantially horizontal surface, and wherein said panels are configured for selectively positioning in a closed configuration wherein said panels are adjacently positioned.

14. The kit of claim 13, further including each of said pair of panels being substantially rectangularly shaped.

15. A puppet kit comprising: a plurality of plates, said plates being substantially planar, each said plate being shaped such that said plate resembles a respective animal, each of said plates being substantially dimensionally equivalent, each said plate being textured such that an exterior of said plate resembles an outer covering, such as skin and fur, of the respective animal represented by said plate, each said plate being colored such that the exterior of said plate resembles a pattern of the respective animal represented by said plate;a plurality of handles, each said handle being reversibly couplable to a respective said plate, wherein said handle is positioned on said respective said plate such that said handle is configured for grasping in a hand of a user for motivating said plate, each said handle comprising a slat, said slat having a first end, said first end being complementary to a first slot positioned in a bottom of said respective said plate, wherein said first slot is positioned in said respective said plate such that said first slot is positioned for inserting said first end of said slat for coupling said slat to said respective said plate, said slat having a second end, said second end being arcuately flanged such that said second end is dimensionally wider than said first end, said slat having straight opposed side edges extending from said first end, each of said straight opposed side edges having a length greater than a depth of said first slot wherein a portion of said straight opposed side edges is exposed such that said slat is configured to facilitate said slat being grasped under said plate when said first end is fully inserted into said first slot;a plurality of bases, each said base being couplable to said second end of a respective said slat such that said base holds said respective slat in a fixed perpendicular orientation extending from said base, wherein said base is positioned on said respective said slat such that said base is configured for vertically positioning said respective said slat and said respective said plate on a substantially horizontal surface, said bases being substantially rectangularly box shaped, each said base having opposing ends, said opposing ends being rounded, each said base comprising a second slot positioned in an upper surface of said base, said second slot having closed ends and being complementary in shape to said second end of said respective said slat, wherein said second slot is positioned in said base such that said second slot is positioned for inserting said second end of said respective said slat for coupling said respective said slat to said base and restricting lateral movement of said slat relative to said base when said second end of said slat is fully inserted into said second slot in said base, said second slot being substantially rectangularly box shaped;a plurality of backdrops, each said backdrop being configured for positioning on the substantially horizontal surface proximate to a respective said plate, said backdrop depicting a landscape associated with the respective animal represented by said respective said plate, each said backdrop comprising a pair of panels, each said panel having an inside edge, said inside edges being hingedly coupled such that said pair of panels is configured for selectively positioning in an open configuration, wherein said panels are configured for positioning on the substantially horizontal surface proximate to said respective said plate with said panels positioned substantially perpendicularly to the substantially horizontal surface, and wherein said panels are configured for selectively positioning in a closed configuration wherein said panels are adjacently positioned, each of said pair of panels being substantially rectangularly shaped; andwherein said first slots are positioned in said plates such that said first slots are positioned for inserting said first ends of said slats for coupling said slats to said plates such that said slats are configured for grasping in the hands of the user for motivating said plates for entertaining, wherein said second slots are positioned in said bases such that said second slots are positioned for inserting said second ends of said slats for coupling of said slats to said bases, wherein each of said pair of panels is configured for selectively positioning in the open configuration, wherein said panels are configured for positioning on the substantially horizontal surface proximate to a respective said plate with said panels positioned substantially perpendicularly to the substantially horizontal surface, and wherein said panels are configured for selectively positioning in the closed configuration wherein said panels are adjacently positioned.
