Abstract
A putter head for golf putter formed of a copper sole, a putter head body molded from zinc/aluminum alloy on the sole, and a face panel fixedly fastened to the front side of the putter head body, the sole having a thin middle part, two thick side parts disposed at two sides of said thinner middle part, top recesses in the thin middle part and the thick side parts, and upright locating rods in the top recesses, the top recesses and the upright locating rods each having a sloping peripheral wall for positive bonding of the sole body.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The present invention relates to golf clubs and, more specifically to a putter head for golf putter, which lowered the center of gravity of the golf putter to improve the stability of the golf putter in putting the ball.


[0003] 2. Description of the Prior Art


[0004] The game of golf has become popularly accepted. When playing the game of golf, a set of golf clubs shall be used. A putter is a golf club used in putting. In order to improve the stability in putting the ball Weights of different materials may be attached to the putter head. However, the installation of weights may deviate the center of gravity of the putter head upwardly from the center, resulting in poor balancing. When putting the ball, the player may be unable to control the moving path of the ball stably.



SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The present invention has been accomplished to provide a putter head for golf putter, which eliminates the aforesaid problem.


[0006] According to the present invention, the putter head for golf putter comprises a copper sole, a putter head body molded from zinc/aluminum alloy on the sole, and a face panel fixedly fastened to the front side of the putter head body. The sole has a thin middle part, two thick side parts disposed at two sides of said thinner middle part, top recesses in the thin middle part and the thick side parts, and upright locating rods in the top recesses. The top recesses and the upright locating rods each have a sloping peripheral wall for positive bonding of the sole body. Because the putter head body is directly molded on the sole to fill up the top recesses, the putter head body and the sole are formed in integrity after molding of the putter head body.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0013] Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, a sole 10 is shown for making a putter head for a putter. The sole 10 comprises at least one top recess 11 and at least one upright locating rod 12 in each top recess 11. The at least one top recess 11 and the at least one upright locating rod 12 each have a sloping peripheral wall 14, and an annular locating groove 13. The sloping peripheral wall 14 of each top recess 11 slopes downwards outwards from the top toward the bottom. The sloping peripheral wall 14 of each upright locating rod 12 slops downwards inwards from the top toward the bottom. The annular locating groove 13 of each top recess 11 extends around the respective sloping peripheral wall 14. The annular locating groove 13 of each upright locating rod 12 is formed in the topside of the respective upright locating rod 12. The sole 10 has a relatively thinner middle part and two relatively thicker side parts. Stamping forms the annular locating grooves 13.


[0014] Referring to FIGS. From 3 through 6, the sole 10 is put in the mold M (see FIG. 3), and then molten zinc or aluminum alloy is poured into the mold M to fill up the at least one top recess 11 and the annular locating grooves 13 (see FIG. 4). After cooled down, a putter head body 30 is molded and fixedly fastened to the sole 10 (see FIG. 5). Because the putter head body 30 is directly molded on the sole 10 and filled up each top recess 11, the molded putter head body 30 and the sole 10 are kept in unity. After molding, a face panel 20 is fixedly fastened to the front side of the putter head body 30, and then a shaft (not shown) is fixedly fastened to the neck of the putter head body 30, and a finished golf putter is finally obtained after the process of polishing and surface treatment The sole 10 is made of copper, which lowered the center of the gravity of the putter head so that the putter head can put the ball into the hole stably. Because the putter head body 30 and the sole 10 are made of different materials, they show different colors that attract consumers to buy.


[0015] As indicated above, the present invention achieves the following improvements and functional effects:

Because the putter head body 30 fills up the top recesses 11 and sloping peripheral walls 14 of the sole 10 and the sole has a thinner middle part and two thicker side parts, the center of gravity of the putter head is lowered to the bottom side so that the player can put the ball into the hole stably.

Because molten zinc or aluminum alloy filled up the top recesses 11 and the annular locating grooves 13 of the sole 10, the sole 10 and the putter head body 30 and the sole 10 are formed in integrity. Materials of different specific gravity may be added to the sole 10 subject to requirements from different players, so as to improve the balancing of the putter head.


[0018] 3. The thickness of the thicker side parts of the sole 10 are determined subject to the weight of the designed putter head so that the weight, of the putter head can easily be made as desired.


[0019] A prototype of putter head for golf putter has been constructed with the features of the annexed drawings of FIGS. 1˜6. The golf putter functions smoothly to provide all of the features discussed earlier.


[0020] Although a particular embodiment of the invention has been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.


Claims
  • 1. A putter head for golf putter comprising a sole, a putter head body molded from metal on said sole, and a face panel fixedly fastened to a front side of said putter head body, wherein said sole comprises a thin middle part, two thick side parts disposed at two sides of said thinner middle part, at least one top recess in at least one of said thin middle part and said thick side parts, and at least one upright locating rod in each of said at least one top recess, said at least one top recess and said at least one upright locating rod each having a sloping peripheral wall.
