Claims
- 1. An acid-base indicator dye which comprises a soluble organic nitrogen compound having the general formula ##STR3## wherein R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 12 to 20 carbon atoms, said acid-base indicator dye producing a color change when dissolved in an organic solvent so that the color change shifts to longer wavelengths with increasing polarity of the solvent.
- 2. A dye as in claim 1 wherein the hydrocarbon radical has 16 carbon atoms.
