Claims
- 1. A saddle skirt apparatus for flexibly accommodating the wither-shoulder region of a horse, the skirt apparatus including a pair of laterally spaced skirts and a spanning means for connecting said pair of skirts together, each skirt comprising:
- a rearward portion and a forward portion connected by a narrowed middle portion, said forward portion having a plurality of forwardly extending fingers.
- 2. The saddle skirt as set forth in claim 1, further including a flexible strap interconnecting said fingers.
- 3. A saddle skirt apparatus for supporting a saddle tree on the back and wither-shoulder region of a horse and for transferring compressive loading from the saddle tree to the horse, the skirt apparatus including a pair of laterally spaced skirts and a spanning means for connecting said pair of skirts together, each skirt comprising:
- forward and rear skirt portions connected together by an intermediate portion, the forward portion including a plurality of independent fingers that are separated from one another and extend forward away from the intermediate portion, the fingers being movable relative to one another to conform to the wither-shoulder region of the horse; and
- a connecting strap extending across the fingers and being fastened to each finger, the strap limiting relative movement between the fingers to distribute compressive loading generally evenly across the region covered by the fingers.
