Claims
- 1. A radar system comprising:
a first memory device storing a first radio frequency waveform; a second memory device storing a second radio frequency waveform; a timing device in communication with said first memory device and said second memory device, said timing device adapted to delay an output of said second radio frequency waveform relative to said first radio frequency waveform; and a first mixer adapted to mix the delayed output of said second radio frequency waveform with a signal that is derived from said first radio frequency waveform interacting with a target.
- 2. The radar system of claim 1 wherein said first memory device is a sequential memory device.
- 3. The radar system of claim 2 wherein said first memory device is a FIFO.
- 4. The radar system of claim 1 wherein said second memory device is a sequential memory device.
- 5. The radar system of claim 4 wherein said second memory device is a FIFO.
- 6. The radar system of claim 1 wherein said first radio frequency waveform has a bandwidth between about 100 MHz and 10 GHz.
- 7. The radar system of claim 1 wherein said first radio frequency waveform has a bandwidth greater than about 800 MHz.
- 8. The radar system of claim 1 wherein said first radio frequency waveform has a bandwidth greater than about 10 GHz.
- 9. The radar system of claim 1 further comprising a low pass filter adapted to filter an output of said first mixer.
- 10. The radar system of claim 1 further comprising at least one antenna adapted to transmit said first radio frequency waveform and to receive said signal that is derived from said first radio frequency waveform interacting with the target.
- 11. The radar system of claim 1 further comprising a computer in communication with said first memory device and said second memory device, said computer adapted to determine said first radio frequency waveform and said second radio frequency waveform.
- 12. The radar system of claim 1 further comprising:
a first filter in communication with said first memory device, said first filter adapted to filter said first radio frequency waveform; and a second filter in communication with said second memory device, said second filter adapted to filter said second radio frequency waveform.
- 13. The radar system of claim 12 wherein:
said first memory device is a 1-bit wide FIFO; and said second memory device is a 1-bit wide FIFO.
- 14. The radar system of claim 1 further comprising:
a first D/A converter in communication with said first memory device, said first D/A converter adapted to convert said first radio frequency waveform; and a second D/A converter in communication with said second memory device, said second D/A converter adapted to convert said second radio frequency waveform.
- 15. The radar system of claim 14 further comprising:
an oscillator adapted to produce a third radio frequency waveform; a second mixer in communication with said first D/A converter and said oscillator, said second mixer adapted to mix an output of said first D/A converter with said third radio frequency waveform; and a third mixer in communication with said first mixer and said oscillator, said third mixer adapted to mix said third radio frequency waveform with a signal that is derived from an output of said second mixer interacting with the target; wherein said first mixer is adapted to mix an output of said second D/A converter with an output of said third mixer.
- 16. A radar system comprising:
a first 1-bit wide FIFO memory device storing a first radio frequency waveform; a second 1-bit wide FIFO memory device storing a second radio frequency waveform; a timing device in communication with said first memory device and said second memory device, said timing device adapted to delay an output of said second radio frequency waveform relative to said first radio frequency waveform; a first filter in communication with said first memory device, said first filter adapted to filter said first radio frequency waveform; a second filter in communication with said second memory device, said second filter adapted to filter said second radio frequency waveform; and a mixer adapted to mix an output of said second filter with a signal that is derived from an output of said first filter interacting with a target.
- 17. The radar system of claim 16 wherein said first radio frequency waveform has a bandwidth greater than about 100 MHz.
- 18. The radar system of claim 17 wherein said first radio frequency waveform has a bandwidth between about 100 MHz and 10 GHz.
- 19. The radar system of claim 17 wherein said first radio frequency waveform has a bandwidth greater than about 10 GHz.
- 20. The radar system of claim 16 further comprising a low pass filter adapted to filter an output of said mixer.
- 21. The radar system of claim 16 further comprising at least one antenna adapted to transmit an output of said first filter and to receive said signal that is derived from said output of said first filter interacting with the target.
- 22. The radar system of claim 16 further comprising a computer in communication with said first memory device and said second memory device, said computer adapted to determine said first radio frequency waveform and said second radio frequency waveform.
- 23. A radar system comprising:
a first memory device storing a first radio frequency waveform; a second memory device storing a second radio frequency waveform; a timing device in communication with said first memory device and said second memory device, said timing device adapted to delay an output of said second radio frequency waveform relative to said first radio frequency waveform; a first D/A converter in communication with said first memory device, said first D/A converter adapted to convert said first radio frequency waveform; a second D/A converter in communication with said second memory device, said second D/A converter adapted to convert said second radio frequency waveform; an oscillator adapted to produce a third radio frequency waveform; a first mixer in communication with said first D/A converter and said oscillator, said first mixer adapted to mix an output of said first D/A converter with said third radio frequency waveform; a second mixer in communication with said oscillator, said second mixer adapted to mix said third radio frequency waveform with a signal that is derived from an output of said first mixer interacting with a target; and a third mixer in communication with said second D/A converter and said second mixer, said third mixer adapted to mix an output of said second D/A converter with an output of said second mixer.
- 24. The radar system of claim 23 wherein said first radio frequency waveform has a bandwidth greater than about 100 MHz.
- 25. The radar system of claim 24 wherein said first radio frequency waveform has a bandwidth between about 100 MHz and 10 GHz.
- 26. The radar system of claim 24 wherein said first radio frequency waveform has a bandwidth greater than about 10 GHz.
- 27. The radar system of claim 23 wherein:
said first memory device is a FIFO; and said second memory device is a FIFO.
- 28. The radar system of claim 23 further comprising a low pass filter adapted to filter an output of said third mixer.
- 29. The radar system of claim 23 further comprising at least one antenna adapted to transmit an output of said first mixer and to receive said signal that is derived from said output of said first mixer interacting with the target.
- 30. The radar system of claim 23 further comprising a computer in communication with said first memory device and said second memory device, said computer adapted to determine said first radio frequency waveform and said second radio frequency waveform.
- 31. A radar system comprising:
a first memory device adapted to store and output at least one waveform; a second memory device adapted to store and output at least one waveform; a timing device in communication with said first memory device and said second memory device, said timing device adapted to delay an output of said second memory device relative to an output of said first memory device; and a mixer adapted to mix said output of said second memory device with a signal that is derived from said output of said first memory device interacting with a target; wherein at least one of said first memory device and said second memory device is adapted to store and output a plurality of different waveforms.
- 32. The radar system of claim 31 wherein:
said first memory device is adapted to store a plurality of different waveforms; and said first memory device is adapted to output said plurality of different waveforms in a predetermined order.
- 33. The radar system of claim 31 wherein:
said second memory device is adapted to store a plurality of different waveforms; and said second memory device is adapted to output said plurality of different waveforms in a predetermined order.
- 34. A radar system comprising:
a first memory device adapted to store and output at least one waveform; a plurality of additional memory devices, each adapted to store and output at least one waveform; a timing device in communication with said first memory device and said additional memory devices, said timing device adapted to delay each output of said additional memory devices relative to an output of said first memory device; and a plurality of mixers, each of said mixers adapted to mix said output of a respective one of said additional memory devices with a signal that is derived from said output of said first memory device interacting with a target.
- 35. A radar system comprising:
a first memory device adapted to store and output at least one waveform; a plurality of additional memory devices, each adapted to store and output at least one waveform for interacting with a target; a timing device in communication with said first memory device and said additional memory devices, said timing device adapted to delay an output of said first memory device relative to an output of one of said additional memory devices; and a mixer adapted to mix said output of said first memory device with a signal that is derived from said output of one of said memory devices interacting with said target.
- 36. The radar system of claim 35 wherein said additional memory devices are adapted to produce output in a predetermined order.
