Claims
- 1. A computer implemented method of emulating a conventional radio navigation system while using satellite based position information, the method comprising the computer implemented steps of:receiving an identifier associated with a conventional navaid; retrieving coordinates corresponding to a location of the conventional navaid; generating satellite based position information for an aircraft; generating navigation information for the aircraft using the location of the conventional navaid and the satellite based position information for the aircraft; and driving a display of a conventional radio navigation device by using the navigation information.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the device is a CDI (course deviation indicator) device.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the device is an HSI (horizontal situation indicator) device.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the device is an ADF (automatic direction finder) device.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the guidance indications are generated without requiring a signal from a radio navaid.
