Claims
- 1. A quick-connect fitting, comprising:
a first coupling member having a proximal end and a distal end, the first coupling member including:
a pipe receiving section that defines a threaded cavity portion for receiving an externally threaded fitting on a pipe, said threaded cavity portion having disposed therein a tube member that is adapted to extend into a pipe; and a ramp support section with at least one spiral ramp formed therearound; a second coupling member having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of the second coupling member adapted to sealingly engage the distal end of the first coupling member; and a locking collar movably engaged with the second coupling member and having at least one lock member disposed on an interior surface of the collar that will slidably engage with the at least one spiral ramp when the collar is rotated around the ramp support section of the first coupling member.
- 2. The quick-connect fitting of claim 1, wherein the spiral ramp includes a lock seat for receiving the lock member on the locking collar.
- 3. The quick-connect fitting of claim 1, wherein the at least one spiral ramp of the first coupling member includes a pair of spiral ramps.
- 4. The quick-connect fitting of claim 3, wherein the at least one lock member includes a pair of lock members that are engagable with the pair of spiral ramps.
- 5. The quick-connect fitting of claim 1, wherein the lock member is a button.
- 6. The quick-connect fitting of claim 1, further comprising a spiral ramp formed on the interior surface of the locking collar.
- 7. The quick-connect fitting of claim 1, further comprising a sealing member at the proximal end of the second coupling member, the sealing member defining a recess for receiving the distal end of the first coupling member.
- 8. The quick-connect fitting of claim 1, wherein the second coupling member includes a plurality of external threads on an extension portion thereof.
- 9. The quick-connect fitting of claim 1, wherein the first and second coupling members comprise a chemically resistant fluorocarbon material.
- 10. The quick-connect fitting of claim 9, wherein the fluorocarbon material is selected from the group consisting of polytetrafluoroethylene, perfluoroalkoxy, polyvinylidene difluoride, and combinations thereof.
- 11. A quick-connect fitting, comprising:
a first coupling member having a proximal end and a distal end, the first coupling member including:
a pipe receiving section that defines a threaded cavity portion for receiving an externally threaded fitting on a pipe, said threaded cavity portion having disposed therein a tube member that is adapted to extend into a pipe; and a ramp support section with a pair of spiral ramps formed therearound; a second coupling member having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of the second coupling member adapted to sealingly engage the distal end of the first coupling member; and a locking collar movably engaged with the second coupling member and having a pair of lock members disposed on an interior surface of the collar that will slidably engage with the pair of spiral ramps when the collar is rotated around the ramp support section of the first coupling member.
- 12. The quick-connect fitting of claim 1, wherein the spiral ramps include a lock seat for receiving the lock members on the locking collar.
- 13. The quick-connect fitting of claim 11, wherein the lock members are buttons.
- 14. The quick-connect fitting of claim 11, further comprising a spiral ramp formed on the interior surface of the locking collar.
- 15. The quick-connect fitting of claim 11, wherein the first and second coupling members comprise a chemically resistant fluorocarbon material.
- 16. The quick-connect fitting of claim 15, wherein the fluorocarbon material is selected from the group consisting of polytetrafluoroethylene, perfluoroalkoxy, polyvinylidene difluoride, and combinations thereof.
- 17. A quick-connect fitting, comprising:
a first coupling member having a proximal end and a distal end, the first coupling member including:
a pipe receiving section that defines a threaded cavity portion for receiving an externally threaded fitting on a pipe, said threaded cavity portion having disposed therein a tube member that is adapted to extend into a pipe; and a ramp support section with at least one spiral ramp formed therearound; a second coupling member having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of the second coupling member adapted to sealingly engage the distal end of the first coupling member; a sealing member at the proximal end of the second coupling member, the sealing member defining a recess for receiving the distal end of the first coupling member; and a locking collar movably engaged with the second coupling member and having at least one lock member disposed on an interior surface of the collar that will slidably engage with the at least one spiral ramp when the collar is rotated around the ramp support section of the first coupling member.
- 18. The quick-connect fitting of claim 17, wherein the at least one spiral ramp includes a lock seat which supports the at least one lock member of the locking collar.
- 19. The quick-connect fitting of claim 17, wherein the first and second coupling members comprise a chemically resistant fluorocarbon material.
- 20. The quick-connect fitting of claim 19, wherein the fluorocarbon material is selected from the group consisting of polytetrafluoroethylene, perfluoroalkoxy, polyvinylidene difluoride, and combinations thereof.
