Claims
- 1. A polymer consisting essentially of the repeat unit:
- --[(R.sub.f.sup.4)(F)CC(F)(R.sub.f.sup.5)OR.sub.f.sup.3 O]--(J)
- wherein
- wherein R.sub.f.sup.3 is a diradical of the formula --C.sub.x F.sub.2x --, x is an integer from 2 to 20, provided that when x is an integer from 4 to 20, some of the carbon atoms may be internally interrupted with oxygen atoms forming ether structures with the proviso that the oxygen atoms be separated by two or more carbon atoms; R.sub.f.sup.4 and R.sub.f.sup.5 are independently of the formula --C.sub.z F.sub.2z+1, z is an integer from 1 to 10; R.sub.f.sup.4 and R.sub.f.sup.5 taken together are --(CF.sub.2)--.sub.m, and m is 2, 3 or 4, and wherein no olefinic unsaturation is present in the polymer.
- 2. A polymer consisting essentially of the following repeat unit:
- --[CF(CF.sub.2 R.sub.f.sup.4)OR.sub.f.sup.3 O]-- (K)
- wherein:
- R.sub.f.sup.3 is a diradical of the formula --C.sub.x F.sub.2x --, wherein x is an integer from 2 to 20, provided that when x is an integer from 4 to 20, some of the carbon atoms may be internally interrupted with oxygen atoms forming ether structures with the proviso that the oxygen atoms be separated by 2 or more carbon atoms; and R.sub.f.sup.4 is --C.sub.z F.sub.2z+1, wherein z is an integer of 1 to 10.
- 3. A polymer consisting essentially of the repeat unit:
- --[(R.sub.f.sup.1)C.dbd.C(R.sub.f.sup.2)ORO]-- (A)
- wherein R is:
- a diradical of the formula --C.sub.x H.sub.2x-y F.sub.y -- wherein x is an integer from 2 to 20, y is 0 or an integer from 1 to 2x for a given value of x, with the additional proviso that the carbon atoms containing the free valence of the diradical not be attached to fluorine atoms, and when x is an integer of from 4 to 20 some of the carbon atoms may be internally interrupted with oxygen atoms forming ether structures with the proviso that the oxygen atoms be separated by 2 or more carbon atoms;
- --C.sub.6 H.sub.4-a F.sub.1 -- wherein a is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4, with the proviso that the radical bonds are not on adjacent carbon atoms;
- --C.sub.10 H.sub.6-b F.sub.b -- wherein b is 0 or an integer of 1 to 6, with the proviso that the radical bonds are not on adjacent carbon atoms;
- --C.sub.12 H.sub.8-C F.sub.c -- wherein c is 0 or an integer of 1 to 8, with the proviso that the radical bonds are not on adjacent carbon atoms; or
- --C.sub.6 H.sub.4-d --R.sup.1 --C.sub.6 H.sub.4-e F.sub.e --, wherein d and e are independently 0 or an integer from 1 to 4, R.sup.1 is --C.sub.x H.sub.2x-f F.sub.f --, wherein f is 0 or an integer from 1 to 2x and x is an integer of 2 to 20; and
- R.sub.f.sup.1 and R.sub.f.sup.2 are independently --C.sub.z f.sub.2z+1, wherein z is an integer from 1 to 10; or R.sub.f.sup.1 and R.sub.f.sup.2 taken together in the cis configuration are --(CF.sub.2).sub.m --, wherein m is 2, 3 or 4, with the proviso that when R.sub.f.sup.1 and R.sub.f.sup.2 taken together are --(CF.sub.2).sub.m --, R is --CH.sub.2 (CF.sub.2).sub.2 O[CF(CF.sub.3)CF.sub.2 O].sub.h (CF.sub.3)CH.sub.2 --, wherein h is 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4.
- 4. The polymer of claim 3 wherein x is 4 to 20, and some of the carbon atoms are internally interrupted with oxygen atoms forming ether structures.
- 5. The polymer as recited in claim 3 wherein R.sub.f.sup.1 and R.sub.f.sup.2 are each independently --C.sub.z F.sub.2z+1.
- 6. A polymer consisting essentially of the repeat unit:
- --[C(.dbd.CFR.sub.f.sup.1)OR.sup.8 O]-- (B)
- wherein:
- R.sub.f.sup.1 is --C.sub.z F.sub.2z+1, wherein z is an integer from one to 10, and R.sup.8 is
- a diradical of the formula --C.sub.x H.sub.2x-y F.sub.y --, where x is an integer from 2 to 20, y is 0 or an integer from 1 to 2x, but with the proviso that the carbon atoms containing the free valences of the diradical not be attached to fluorine atoms, and when x is an integer of 4 to 20 some of the carbon atoms may be internally interrupted with oxygen atoms forming ether structures with the additional proviso that the oxygen atoms be separated by two or more carbon atoms;
- --C.sub.6 H.sub.4-a F.sub.1 -- wherein a is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4, with the proviso that the free valences are not on adjacent carbon atoms;
- --C.sub.10 H.sub.6-b F.sub.b -- wherein b is 0 or an integer of 1 to 6, with the proviso that the free valencies are not on adjacent carbon atoms;
- --C.sub.12 H.sub.8-C F.sub.c -- wherein c is 0 or an integer of 1 to 8, with the proviso that the free valences are not on adjacent carbon atoms; or
- --C.sub.6 H.sub.4-d --R.sup.1 --C.sub.6 H.sub.4-e F.sub.e --, wherein d and e are independently 0 or an integer from 1 to 4, R.sup.1 is --C.sub.x H.sub.2x-f F.sub.f --, wherein f is 0 or an integer of 1 to 2x; and with the further proviso that in R.sup.8 one of the carbon atoms adjacent to the carbon atoms containing the free valences of the diradical be attached to at least 2 fluorine atoms.
