Claims
- 1. A disk storage system, comprising:
- a control unit having a plurality of external connection points;
- a disk unit group including a plurality of storage units wherein write data is written to each of said storage units; and
- a plurality of paths each coupled to the disk unit group and to the control unit;
- wherein the control unit:
- receives first and second read requests to the disk unit group;
- conducts a first read operation to read data requested by the first read request from one storage unit in said disk unit group coupled to one of said plurality of paths and a second read operation to read data requested by the second read request from another storage unit in said disk unit group coupled to another path of said plurality of paths; and
- conducts a first transferring operation to transfer data read by said first read operation to one of said plurality of external connection points and a second transferring operation to transfer data read by said second read operation to another of said plurality of external connection points.
- 2. A disk storage system according to claim 1, wherein:
- said first and second read requests are issued from a processor to the disk unit group;
- and wherein said control unit transfers data read by said first read operation to said processor via said one of said plurality of external connection points and transfers data read by said second read operation to said processor via said another of said plurality of external connection points.
- 3. A disk storage system according to claim 1, further comprising:
- said control unit having a first one of said external connection points connectable to a first processor and a second one of said external connection points connectable to a second processor;
- wherein said control unit receives said first read request issued from the first processor and said second read request issued from the second processor to the disk unit group;
- and wherein said control unit transfers data read by said first read operation to said first processor via said first external connection point and transfers data read by said second read operation to said second processor via said second external connection point.
- 4. A disk storage system, comprising:
- a control unit having a plurality of external connection points;
- a disk unit group including a plurality of storage units wherein write data is written to each of said storage units; and
- a plurality of paths each coupled to the disk unit group and to the control unit;
- wherein the control unit:
- receives first and second read requests to the disk unit group;
- controls a first read operation to read data requested by the first read request from one storage unit in said disk unit group coupled to one of said plurality of paths and a second read operation to read data requested by the second read request from another storage unit in said disk unit group coupled to another path of said plurality of paths; and
- controls a first transferring operation to transfer data read by said first read operation to one of said plurality of external connection points and a second transferring operation to transfer data read by said second read operation to another of said plurality of external connection points.
- 5. A disk storage system according to claim 4, wherein:
- said first and second read requests are issued from a processor to the disk unit group;
- and wherein said control unit transfers data read by said first read operation to said processor via said one of said plurality of external connection points and transfers data read by said second read operation to said processor via said another of said plurality of external connection points.
- 6. A disk storage system according to claim 4, further comprising:
- said control unit having a first one of said external connection points connectable to a first processor and a second one of said external connection points connectable to a second processor;
- wherein said control unit receives said first read request issued from the first processor and said second read request issued from the second processor to the disk unit group;
- and wherein said control unit transfers data read by said first read operation to said first processor via said first external connection point and transfers data read by said second read operation to said second processor via said second external connection point.
