The present invention relates to a rear-end water-sweeping device designed to prevent the occurrence of water wall at the rear end, while making sternway of a square-sterned vessel such as an American Fisherman
An American fisherman maneuvers sternway and moves rearward for relatively long durations to exhaust fish, such as swordfishes, while catching the fish. Since the square formation of sterns of this type of marine vehicles does not have a shape that would cleave the water, the way the bow does, a water wall is occurred at the rear-end while the marine vehicle is moved backward. Sometimes the water wall is accompanied with waves leading to filling into the rear deck and causing stability loss of the vessel until such water is discharged Not only the fishing vessels but other marine vessels with square-sterned are difficult to control for maneuvering in particular at higher speeds due to the occurrence of water wall.
The water wall occurred at the rear-end reduces the steering capability of such vessels particularly during backward movement at moderate and higher speeds (e.g. 6-10 miles/hour maximum), and causes a drawback that avoids the easy catching of a fish.
It is an object of the present invention to enhance the controlling capability of marine vehicles and particularly American fisherman vessels during backward movement
In order to achieve this object, the present invention provides a water-sweeping device configured to prevent the occurrence of water wall at the rear-end of a marine vehicle and particularly of an American fisherman vessel during backward movement, the device being characterized by comprising at least one water sweeping inlet, and at least one water distribution means running out of the portside or starboard sides of the vessel, said water distribution means being adapted to the water sweeping inlets.
The water sweeping inlet according to the present invention is so dimensioned that it is capable of sucking the mass of water wall to be calculated, whereas the water distribution means connected to this water sweeping inlet has a tubular form connecting the starboard side of the vessel to the portside Each end of the tubular distribution means is provided with suction propellers.

Throughout the description, the term “marine vehicle” is to be understood any kind of marine vehicles with a square-sterned form and particularly those vessels known as American Fisherman which are used for catching relatively big fishes in sea or lake.

In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, each water sweeping inlet (2) is formed tapering from the end of water inlet towards the other end. Water sweeping inlets (2) are connected to a water distribution means (3) by the other ends so that the water introducing into the water sweeping inlets (2) is directed into said water distribution means (3) preferably having a hollow tube formation and is further moved to the lateral (starboard and portside) sides of the marine vehicle's body (1).
As the both ends of the water distribution means (3) are open to the lateral surfaces (starboard and portside) of the body (1), water entering through the water sweeping inlets (2) is discharged from the lateral surfaces of the marine vehicle's body (1).
Suction propellers (4) are provided to the end sections of the water distribution means (3) that open to the body (1). Water entering through the water sweeping inlets (2) is forced to be efficiently discharged by means of the suction propellers (4) These suction propellers (4) can be positioned to any other sections of the water distribution means (3) instead of the end sections of the water distribution means (3) The suction propellers (4) are driven by a motor element associated therewith.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the water entering through the water sweeping inlets (2) and discharged from the end sections of the water distribution means (3) at the lateral surfaces of the body (1) can also de discharged from any other optional section of the vessel, for instance from the lower or rear part of the body (1)
