Claims
- 1. A horizontal lifeline support system for use with a rebar stub or stud extending from a building structure, the system comprising:
a stanchion having an elongated body, the body having a top end and a bottom end, the bottom end having an aperture therein, the aperture being adapted for accepting the rebar stud or stub on the building structure; at least one guy member, the guy member having a pair of opposite ends, one of the ends of the guy member being connected to the top end of the stanchion and the opposite end having a clamp attaching the second end of the guy member to the building structure.
- 2. A system according to claim 1 wherein said guy member is only capable of supporting a tension load.
- 3. A system according to claim 1 wherein said clamp is a hand operated clamp that allows a user to connect the guy member to the building by hand.
- 4. A system according to claim 1 wherein said system includes at least two guy members, the guy members being at an angle to one another.
- 5. A system according to claim 1 wherein a pair of spaced apart stanchions are used to support a horizontal lifeline therebetween.
- 6. A horizontal lifeline support system for use with a rebar stub or stud extending from a building structure, the system comprising:
a pair of stanchions, each stanchion having an elongated body, the body having a top end and a bottom end, the bottom end having an aperture therein, the aperture being adapted for accepting the rebar stud or stub on the building structure; at least two guy members, each guy member having a pair of opposite ends, one of the ends of the guy member being connected to the top end of one of the stanchions and the opposite end having a clamp attaching the second end of the guy member to the building structure.
- 7. A system according to claim 6 wherein each of said guy members is flexible.
- 8. A system according to claim 6 wherein each clamp is a hand operated clamp that allows a user to connect the guy member to the building by hand.
- 9. A system according to claim 6 wherein the pair of spaced apart stanchions are used to support a horizontal lifeline therebetween.
- 10. A method for creating a horizontal lifeline support system for use with a pair of spaced apart sections of rebar stub or studs extending from a building structure, the method comprising:
providing a pair of stanchions, each stanchion having an elongated body, the body having a top end and a bottom end, the bottom end having an aperture therein, the aperture being adapted for accepting the rebar stud or stub on the building structure; providing at least two guy members, each guy member having a pair of opposite ends, one of the ends of the guy member being connected to the top end of one of the stanchions and the opposite end having a clamp attaching the second end of the guy member to the building structure; placing the bottom end of each stanchion over the rebar stub or stud, so that the rebar stub or stud is inserted into the aperture in the bottom end of each stanchion; and attaching the clamps of each guy member to the building structure, so a horizontal lifeline stretched between the stanchions is supported by the stanchions and guy memebers.
- 11. A method according to claim 10 wherein each of said guy members is flexible.
- 12. A method according to claim 10 wherein each clamp is a hand operated clamp that allows a user to connect the guy member to the building by hand.
- 13. A method according to claim 10 wherein the pair of spaced apart stanchions are used to support a horizontal lifeline therebetween.
