Claims
- 1. An isolated polypeptide having at least 80% sequence identity to a polypeptide selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOS: 2, 4, 6, and 8; wherein the percent identity is determined over the entire length of the reference sequence using the GAP program under default parameters, and wherein the isolated polypeptide has RecA activity.
- 2. A recombinant expression cassette comprising a polynucleotide encoding the polypeptide of claim 1 operably linked to a promoter.
- 3. A host cell comprising the isolated polypeptide of claim 1.
- 4. The host cell of claim 3, wherein the host cell is a plant cell.
- 5. The plant cell of claim 4, wherein the plant cell is selected from the group consisting of sorghum, maize, rice, wheat, soybean, sunflower, canola, alfalfa, barley, and millet.
- 6. A plant regenerated from the plant cell of claim 4.
- 7. The plant of claim 6, wherein the plant is selected from the group consisting of sorghum, maize, rice, wheat, soybean, sunflower, canola, alfalfa, barley, and millet.
- 8. A seed of the transformed plant of claim 6.
- 9. An isolated polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOS: 1, 3, 5, and 7; wherein the isolated polypeptide has RecA activity.
- 10. An isolated polypeptide comprising at least 10 contiguous amino acids of a polypeptide selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOS: 2, 4, 6, and 8.
- 11. An isolated polypeptide selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOS: 2, 4, 6, and 8.
- 12. An isolated polypeptide wherein:
(a) the polypeptide comprises at least 10 contiguous amino acids from a first polypeptide selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOS: 2, 4, 6, and 8; (b) the polypeptide, when presented as an immunogen, elicits the production of an antibody which specifically binds to the first polypeptide; and (c) the polypeptide does not bind to antisera raised against the first polypeptide which has been fully immunosorbed with the first polypeptide.
