- 4. The cover plate of claim 3, wherein the at least one protrusion comprises a flange surrounding the securing aperture.
- 5. The cover plate of claim 2, wherein the at least one structure configured to align the apertures includes at least one ridge on the reverse side of the cover plate, the ridge sized and shaped, at least in part, to mate with a portion of the socket face and thereby align the plug blade apertures of the cover plate with the apertures of the socket face when the cover plate is mated with the socket.
- 6. A cover plate for an electrical outlet of the type having at least one electrical socket covered by at least one electrically insulative socket face that is sized and shaped to cover any electrically conductive component of the at least one socket extending from a front surface of the at least one electrical socket, the at least one electrically insulative socket face defining plug blade apertures therethrough, which plug blade apertures are sized and shaped to receive plug blades through the electrically insulative socket face to electrically conductive components of the electrical socket therebehind, the cover plate comprising:
a front surface region corresponding to the at least one electrically insulative socket face covering any electrically conductive components of the at least one socket extending from the front surface of the electrical socket, the front surface region completely covering the at least one socket face but for having a plurality of plug blade apertures corresponding to the plug blade apertures of the at least one socket face for receiving plug blades and at least one aperture for receiving a securing device; a back surface region opposite the front surface region; and wherein the cover plate is formed as a single, solid component except for the plug blade apertures and the securing aperture.
- 7. The cover plate of claim 6, wherein the back surface region further comprises at least one alignment structure thereon, the alignment structure configured to align the plug blade apertures of the cover plate with apertures of the socket face of the electrical outlet when the cover plate covers the socket face.
- 8. The cover plate of claim 7, wherein the at least one alignment structure comprises at least one truncated circle-shaped recessed portion in the reverse side sized and shaped to fit snugly over the socket face.
- 9. The cover plate of claim 7, wherein the at least one alignment structure comprises at least one protrusion extending from the reverse side of the cover plate, the protrusion configured to contact at least two sockets.
- 10. The cover plate of claim 9, wherein the at least one protrusion comprises a flange surrounding the securing aperture.
- 11. The cover plate of claim 7, wherein the at least one alignment structure comprises at least one ridge on the reverse side of the cover plate, the ridge including a portion sized and shaped to mate with a portion of the socket and thereby align the plug blade apertures of the cover plate with the apertures of the socket face when the cover plate covers the socket face.
- 12. The cover plate of claim 7, wherein the at least one alignment structure comprises at least one protrusion from the reverse side of the cover plate, the at least one protrusion positioned on the reverse side between a first set of plug blade apertures extending through the front surface region corresponding to a first socket and a second set of plug blade apertures extending through the front surface region corresponding to a second socket, the at least one protrusion sized and shaped to contact the first and second sockets when the cover plate covers the socket face to thereby align the plug blade apertures of the cover plate with the apertures of the truncated circle-shaped socket face.
- 13. The cover plate of claim 12, wherein the at least one protrusion comprises at least one ridge.
- 14. The cover plate of claim 12, wherein the at least one protrusion comprises a flange surrounding the securing aperture.
- 15. A cover plate for an electrical outlet of the type having at least one electrical socket covered by at least one electrically insulative socket face that is sized and shaped to cover any electrically conductive component of the at least one socket extending from a front surface of the at least one electrical socket, the at least one electrically insulative socket face defining plug blade apertures therethrough, which plug blade apertures are sized and shaped to receive plug blades through the electrically insulative socket face to electrically conductive components of the electrical socket therebehind, the cover plate comprising:
a front surface configured to cover the at least one electrically insulative socket face but for a plurality of plug blade apertures therethrough corresponding to the plug blade apertures through the electrically insulative socket face; and a back surface, formed integral with and opposite the front surface, the back surface comprising at least one alignment structure protruding from the back surface, the alignment structure sized and shaped to contact at least one edge of the at least one electrically insulative socket face of the electrical outlet when the cover plate is installed on the electrical outlet.
- 16. The cover plate of claim 15, wherein the at least one electrically insulative socket face includes two truncated circle-shaped socket faces.
- 17. The cover plate of claim 16, wherein the back surface comprises a recessed portion adjacent to the protruding alignment structure, the recessed portion sized and shaped to receive the truncated circle-shaped socket face therein.
