Claims
- 1. A reclining device comprising:
a plurality of pawls having first teeth; a ratchet having second teeth that mesh with the first teeth; a holder that holds the pawls such that the first teeth of the pawls can move selectively toward and away from the second teeth of the ratchet, wherein the ratchet is rotated concentrically with respect to the holder; a cam body that moves the pawls toward and away from the ratchet and brings the pawls into mesh with the ratchet so as to prevent the holder and the ratchet from rotating relative to each other, and that moves the pawls away from the ratchet and brings the pawls out of mesh with the ratchet so as to allow the holder and the ratchet to rotate relative to each other; and an unlock member that holds at least one of the pawls while the holder and the ratchet form a relative rotational angle within a predetermined range and that brings the at least one of the pawls out of mesh with the ratchet, wherein the cam body is urged to rotate for moving the pawls toward the ratchet, and when at least one of the pawls is disengaged from the ratchet by the unlock member, the pawl moves back causing the cam body to stop rotating against an urging force; and wherein the sum of the angles to be set to bring the pawls into mesh and the angles to be set to bring the pawls out of mesh exceeds 360°.
- 2. The reclining device according to claim 1, wherein an angle where the at least one of the pawls is brought out of mesh with the ratchet is set equal to an angle where the other pawls are brought out of mesh with the ratchet.
- 3. The reclining device according to claim 2, wherein:
the cam body is rotatably disposed at a center of a circle along which the pawls are arranged, and the angle where the at least one of the pawls is brought out of mesh with the ratchet is set equal to the angle where the other pawls are brought out of mesh with the ratchet by the cam body.
- 4. The reclining device according to claim 1, wherein the unlock member prevents the at least one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet.
- 5. The reclining device according to claim 4, wherein:
an engagement portion for engaging the unlock member is formed on the at least one of the pawls, and the unlock member prevents the at least one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet by the engagement portion formed on the at least one of the pawls.
- 6. The reclining device according to claim 4, wherein the unlock member has an edge that engages the engagement portion to prevent the at least one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet.
- 7. The reclining device according to claim 6, wherein the unlock member prevents the at least one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet in an angular range where the at least one of the pawls is out of mesh with the ratchet.
- 8. The reclining device according to claim 6, wherein the at least one of the pawls is prevented from moving toward the ratchet by the unlock member, so that the other pawls are also prevented from moving toward the ratchet by the cam body.
- 9. The reclining device according to claim 1, wherein the unlock member is mounted in such a manner as to be rotatable together with the ratchet.
- 10. The reclining device according to claim 9, wherein:
an engagement portion for engaging the unlock member is formed on at least one of the pawls, the unlock member has an arcuate hole opening along a circle concentric with the center of the holder rotating relative to the ratchet, and the arcuate hole has its inner peripheral surface engaging the engagement portion and prevents the at least one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet.
- 11. The reclining device according to claim 10, wherein the arcuate hole has at least at one end thereof a recess extending radially outwardly.
- 12. The reclining device according to claim 10, wherein the unlock member is in the shape of a circular plate.
- 13. The reclining device according to claim 10, wherein the unlock member is fan-shaped.
- 14. The reclining device according to claim 1, wherein the unlock member prevents the at least one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet and stops rotation of the cam body by the at least one of the pawls and thereby holds all the pawls out of mesh.
- 15. The reclining device according to claim 1, wherein the first teeth are formed on an outside of the pawls.
- 16. The reclining device according to claim 1, wherein the second teeth are formed on an inside of the ratchet.
- 17. The reclining device according to claim 1, wherein the ratchet is annular in shape.
- 18. A reclining device comprising:
a plurality of pawls having outer teeth; a ratchet having on an inner peripheral side thereof inner teeth that mesh with the outer teeth; a holder that rotates concentrically with respect to the ratchet and that holds the pawls such that the pawls can move selectively toward and away from the inner teeth of the ratchet; a cam body that moves the pawls toward the ratchet and brings the pawls into mesh with the ratchet to prevent the holder and the ratchet from rotating relative to each other, and that moves the pawls away from the ratchet and brings the pawls out of mesh with the ratchet to allow the holder and the ratchet to rotate relative to each other; and an unlock member that holds at least one of the pawls that has moved away from the ratchet while the holder and the ratchet form a relative rotational angle within a predetermined range and that sets a first angular range where the at least one of the pawls is out of mesh with the ratchet, and a second angular range where the pawls adjacent to the at least one of the pawls are to move so as to mesh with the ratchet such that the first and second angular ranges overlap with each other in a plan view.
- 19. The reclining device according to claim 18, wherein the unlock member is a plate member having a notch for engagement with an engagement portion of a predetermined one of the pawls, engages the ratchet to rotate therewith, and has an edge that engages the engagement portion of the predetermined one of the pawls in a range where the predetermined one of the pawls is out of mesh with the ratchet and that prevents the predetermined one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet.
- 20. The reclining device according to claim 1, wherein the unlock member is formed integrally with the ratchet.
- 21. The reclining device according to claim 18, wherein the unlock member is formed integrally with the ratchet.
- 22. The reclining device according to claim 17, wherein the second teeth are formed on an entire inner surface of the ratchet.
- 23. The reclining device according to claim 17, wherein the pawls have an engagement portion and the unlock member has a hole to engage with the engagement portion.
- 24. The reclining device according to claim 17, further comprising a working plate to synchronize other pawls with the pawl.
- 25. The reclining device according to claim 17, wherein only one of the pawls is disengaged from the ratchet by the unlock member at a predetermined angle.
- 26. The reclining device according to claim 17, wherein the plurality of pawls includes more than three pawls.
- 27. A reclining device comprising:
a plurality of pawls having outer teeth; a ratchet having on an inner peripheral side thereof inner teeth that mesh with the outer teeth; a holder that rotates concentrically with respect to the ratchet and that holds the pawls such that the pawls can move selectively toward and away from the inner teeth of the ratchet; a cam body that moves the pawls toward the ratchet and brings the pawls into mesh with the ratchet to prevent the holder and the ratchet from rotating relative to each other, and that moves the pawls away from the ratchet and brings the pawls out of mesh with the ratchet to allow the holder and the ratchet to rotate relative to each other; and an unlock member that holds at least one of the pawls that has moved away from the ratchet while the holder and the ratchet form a relative rotational angle within a predetermined range and the unlock member is provided for an amount of the pawls less than a total number of the pawls, wherein the cam body is urged to rotate for moving the pawls toward the ratchet, and when at least one of the pawls is disengaged from the ratchet by the unlock member, the pawl moves back causing the cam body to stop rotating against a urging force.
- 28. The reclining device according to claim 27, wherein the unlock member is mounted in such a manner as to be rotatable together with the ratchet.
- 29. The reclining device according to claim 28, wherein:
a protrusion portion for engaging the unlock member is formed on at least one of the pawls, the unlock member has an arcuate hole opening along a circle concentric with the center of the holder rotating relative to the ratchet, and the arcuate hole has its inner peripheral surface engaging the engagement portion and prevents the at least one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet.
- 30. The reclining device according to claim 29, wherein the arcuate hole has at least at one end thereof a recess extending radially outwardly.
- 31. The reclining device according to claim 29, wherein the unlock member is in the shape of a circular plate.
- 32. The reclining device according to claim 29, wherein the unlock member is fan-shaped.
- 33. The reclining device according to claim 27, wherein the pawls have an engagement portion and the unlock member has a hole to engage with the engagement portion.
- 34. The reclining device according to claim 27, further comprising a working plate to synchronize other pawls with the pawl.
- 35. The reclining device according to claim 27, wherein only one of the pawls is disengaged from the ratchet by the unlock member at a predetermined angle.
- 36. The reclining device according to claim 27, wherein the plurality of pawls includes more than three pawls.
- 37. A reclining device comprising:
a first disk member that attached to a frame structure of one of a seat cushion and a seat back of the vehicle seat; a second disk member that attached to a frame structure of the other of the seat cushion and the seat back, the second disk member being coupled with the first disk member for relative rotation and united with the first disk member and having an internal circular ratchet portion concentric therewith; a plurality of pawls slidably coupled within the first disk member in a radial direction to be moved toward and away from the ratchet portion of the second disk member, a cam body pivotaly coupled within the first disk member in a lateral direction to be moved in the lateral direction to engage the pawls with the ratchet portion of the second disk member and to disengage the pawls from the ratchet portion of the second disk member; and an unlock member that holds at least one of the pawls that has moved away from the ratchet portion of the second disk member while the first disk member and the second disk member form a relative rotational angle within a predetermined range and the unlock member is provided for an amount of the pawls less than a total number of the pawls, wherein the cam body is urged to rotate for moving the pawls toward the ratchet, and when at least one of the pawls is disengaged from the ratchet by the unlock member, the pawl moves back causing the cam body to stop rotating against a urging force.
- 38. The reclining device according to claim 37, wherein the unlock member is mounted in such a manner as to be rotatable together with the ratchet.
- 39. The reclining device according to claim 38, wherein:
a protrusion portion for engaging the unlock member is formed on at least one of the pawls, the unlock member has an arcuate hole opening along a circle concentric with the center of the holder rotating relative to the ratchet, and the arcuate hole has its inner peripheral surface engaging the engagement portion and prevents the at least one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet.
- 40. The reclining device according to claim 39, wherein the arcuate hole has at least at one end thereof a recess extending radially outwardly.
- 41. The reclining device according to claim 39, wherein the unlock member is in the shape of a circular plate.
- 42. The reclining device according to claim 39, wherein the unlock member is fan-shaped.
- 43. The reclining device according to claim 37, wherein the pawls have an engagement portion and the unlock member has a hole to engage with the engagement portion.
- 44. The reclining device according to claim 37, further comprising a working plate to synchronize other pawls with the pawl.
- 45. The reclining device according to claim 37, wherein only one of the pawls is disengaged from the ratchet by the unlock member at a predetermined angle.
- 46. The reclining device according to claim 37, wherein the plurality of pawls includes more than three pawls.
- 47. A reclining device comprising:
a first disk member that attached to a frame structure of one of a seat cushion and a seat back of the vehicle seat; a second disk member that attached to a frame structure of the other of the seat cushion and the seat back, the second disk member being coupled with the first disk member for relative rotation and united with the first disk member and having an internal circular ratchet portion concentric therewith; a plurality of pawls slidably coupled within the first disk member in a radial direction to be moved toward and away from the ratchet portion of the second disk member, a cam body pivotaly coupled within the first disk member in a lateral direction to be moved in the lateral direction to engage the pawls with the ratchet portion of the second disk member and to disengage the pawls from the ratchet portion of the second disk member; and an unlock member that holds at least one of the pawls that has moved away from the ratchet portion of the second disk member while the first disk member and the second disk member form a relative rotational angle within a predetermined range and that sets a first angular range where the at least one of the pawls is out of mesh with the ratchet portion of the second disk member, and a second angular range where the pawls adjacent to the at least one of the pawls are to move so as to mesh with the ratchet portion of the second disk member such that the first and second angular ranges overlap with each other in a plan view, wherein the cam body is urged to rotate for moving the pawls toward the ratchet, and when at least one of the pawls is disengaged from the ratchet by the unlock member, the pawl moves back causing the cam body to stop rotating against a urging force.
- 48. The reclining device according to claim 47, wherein the unlock member is mounted in such a manner as to be rotatable together with the ratchet.
- 49. The reclining device according to claim 48, wherein:
a protrusion portion for engaging the unlock member is formed on at least one of the pawls, the unlock member has an arcuate hole opening along a circle concentric with the center of the holder rotating relative to the ratchet, and the arcuate hole has its inner peripheral surface engaging the engagement portion and prevents the at least one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet.
- 50. The reclining device according to claim 49, wherein the arcuate hole has at least at one end thereof a recess extending radially outwardly.
- 51. The reclining device according to claim 49, wherein the unlock member is in the shape of a circular plate.
- 52. The reclining device according to claim 49, wherein the unlock member is fan-shaped.
- 53. The reclining device according to claim 47, wherein the pawls have an engagement portion and the unlock member has a hole to engage with the engagement portion.
- 54. The reclining device according to claim 47, further comprising a working plate to synchronize other pawls with the pawl.
- 55. The reclining device according to claim 47, wherein only one of the pawls is disengaged from the ratchet by the unlock member at a predetermined angle.
- 56. The reclining device according to claim 47, wherein the plurality of pawls includes more than three pawls.
- 57. A reclining device comprising:
a plurality of pawls having first teeth; a ratchet having on an inner peripheral side thereof second teeth entire that mesh with the first teeth; a holder that rotates concentrically with respect to the ratchet and that holds the pawls such that the pawls can move selectively toward and away from the second teeth of the ratchet; a cam body that moves the pawls toward the ratchet and brings the pawls into mesh with the ratchet to prevent the holder and the ratchet from rotating relative to each other, and that moves the pawls away from the ratchet and brings the pawls out of mesh with the ratchet to allow the holder and the ratchet to rotate relative to each other; and an unlock member that is offset from the second teeth and that holds at least one of the pawls that has moved away from the ratchet while the holder and the ratchet form a relative rotational angle within a predetermined range and that sets a first angular range where the at least one of the pawls is out of mesh with the ratchet portion of the second disk member, and a second angular range where the pawls adjacent to the at least one of the pawls are to move so as to mesh with the ratchet portion of the second disk member such that the first and second angular ranges overlap with each other in a plan view, wherein the cam body is urged to rotate for moving the pawls toward the ratchet, and when at least one of the pawls is disengaged from the ratchet by the unlock member, the pawl moves back causing the cam body to stop rotating against a urging force.
- 58. The reclining device according to claim 5, wherein the engagement portion formed in the pawl has reference end surfaces in the vicinity of widthwise marginal portions of one of the slide pawls.
- 59. The reclining device according to claim 58, wherein the engagement portion of the at least one of the pawls is divided into two engagement portions with respect to a width direction of the pawl, and wherein each of the two engagement portions includes reference end surfaces.
- 60. The reclining device according to claim 18, wherein:
an engagement portion for engaging the unlock member is formed on the at least one of the pawls and has reference end surfaces in the vicinity of widthwise marginal portions of one of the slide pawls, and the unlock member prevents the at least one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet by the engagement portion formed on the at least one of the pawls.
- 61. The reclining device according to claim 60, wherein the engagement portion of the at least one of the pawls is divided into two engagement portions with respect to a width direction of the pawl, and wherein each of the two engagement portions includes reference end surfaces.
- 62. The reclining device according to claim 27, wherein:
an engagement portion for engaging the unlock member is formed on the at least one of the pawls and has reference end surfaces in the vicinity of widthwise marginal portions of one of the slide pawls, and the unlock member prevents the at least one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet by the engagement portion formed on the at least one of the pawls.
- 63. The reclining device according to claim 62, wherein the engagement portion of the at least one of the pawls is divided into two engagement portions with respect to a width direction of the pawl, and wherein each of the two engagement portions includes reference end surfaces.
- 64. The reclining device according to claim 37, wherein:
an engagement portion for engaging the unlock member is formed on the at least one of the pawls and has reference end surfaces in the vicinity of widthwise marginal portions of one of the slide pawls, and the unlock member prevents the at least one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet by the engagement portion formed on the at least one of the pawls.
- 65. The reclining device according to claim 64, wherein the engagement portion of the at least one of the pawls is divided into two engagement portions with respect to a width direction of the pawl, and wherein each of the two engagement portions includes reference end surfaces.
- 66. The reclining device according to claim 47, wherein:
an engagement portion for engaging the unlock member is formed on the at least one of the pawls and has reference end surfaces in the vicinity of widthwise marginal portions of one of the slide pawls, and the unlock member prevents the at least one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet by the engagement portion formed on the at least one of the pawls.
- 67. The reclining device according to claim 66, wherein the engagement portion of the at least one of the pawls is divided into two engagement portions with respect to a width direction of the pawl, and wherein each of the two engagement portions includes reference end surfaces.
- 68. The reclining device according to claim 57, wherein:
an engagement portion for engaging the unlock member is formed on the at least one of the pawls and has reference end surfaces in the vicinity of widthwise marginal portions of one of the slide pawls, and the unlock member prevents the at least one of the pawls from moving toward the ratchet by the engagement portion formed on the at least one of the pawls.
- 69. The reclining device according to claim 68, wherein the engagement portion of the at least one of the pawls is divided into two engagement portions with respect to a width direction of the pawl, and wherein each of the two engagement portions includes reference end surfaces.
