- 5. The bag of claim 4, wherein said uppermost portions are above said slider.
- 6. The bag of claim 4, wherein said uppermost portions are capable of being grasped by fingers to allow said first and second member panels to be torn from said body panels along said line of weakness.
- 7. The bag of claim 1, wherein said line of weakness is a perforation.
- 8. The bag of claim 1, wherein said line of weakness is a score line.
- 9. The bag of claim 1, wherein said line of weakness is a thinned area.
- 10. The bag of claim 1, wherein said member extends over only a portion of a length of said zipper.
- 11. A reclosable bag, comprising:first and second opposing body panels connected to each other along a pair of sides and a bottom bridging said pair of sides, each of said body panels including an upwardly extending member integrally formed with a remainder of said respective body panel, each of said upwardly extending members joined to said remainder of said respective body panel along a line of weakness, said upwardly extending members having uppermost portions that are connected to each other; a reclosable zipper extending along a mouth formed opposite said bottom and including a rib profile and a groove profile, said rib profile and said groove profile adapted to interlock with each other, said rib profile and said groove profile being located above said lines of weakness and below said uppermost portions of said upwardly extending members; and a slider slidably mounted to said zipper for movement between a closed position and an open position, said rib profile and said groove profile being interlocked while said slider is in said closed position, said rib profile and said groove profile being progressively disengaged in response to movement of said slider to said open position, said slider being allowed to move between said open and closed positions in response to said upwardly extending members being removed from said body panels.
- 12. The bag of claim 11, wherein said upwardly extending members are connected to each other at a location above said slider.
- 13. The bag of claim 12, wherein said upwardly extending members are initially disposed adjacent to said slider when said slider is in said closed position.
- 14. The bag of claim 11, wherein said lines of weakness include a perforation.
- 15. The bag of claim 11, wherein said lines of weakness include a score line.
- 16. The bag of claim 11, wherein said lines of weakness include a thinned area.
- 17. The bag of claim 11, wherein said upwardly extending members extend over only a portion of a length of said zipper.
- 18. The bag of claim 11, wherein said upwardly extending members are capable of being grasped by fingers to allow said upwardly extending members to be torn from said body panels along said lines of weakness.
- 19. The bag of claim 11, wherein said lines of weakness have a length that is less than a length of said zipper.
- 20. The bag of claim 11, wherein said upwardly extending members envelop said zipper.
- 21. A reclosable bag, comprising:first and second opposing body panels connected to each other along a pair of sides and a bottom bridging said pair of sides; a reclosable zipper extending along a mouth formed opposite said bottom and including a rib profile and a groove profile, said rib profile and said groove profile adapted to interlock with each other; a slider slidably mounted to said zipper for movement between a closed position and an open position, said rib profile and said groove profile being interlocked while said slider is in said closed position, said rib profile and said groove profile being progressively disengaged in response to movement of said slider to said open position; and a line of weakness in at least one of said body panels joining said at least one body panel with an upwardly extending member, said upwardly extending member being removable from said body panel along said line of weakness to allow movement of said slider between said open and closed positions, said line of weakness being located below said rib profile and said groove profile.
- 22. The bag of claim 21, wherein said upwardly extending member extends above said slider.
- 23. The bag of claim 21, wherein a line of weakness is present in both of said first and second body panels, each of said first and second body panels being joined to a respective upwardly extending member that is removable along said respective line of weakness.
- 24. The bag of claim 23, wherein each of said upwardly extending members has an uppermost portion, said upwardly extending members being connected at said uppermost portions.
- 25. The bag of claim 24, wherein said uppermost portions are above said slider.
- 26. The bag of claim 25, wherein said uppermost portions are capable of being grasped with fingers to allow said upwardly extending members to be torn from said body panels along said lines of weakness.
- 27. The bag of claim 26, wherein said upwardly extending members extend over only a portion of a length of said zipper.
- 28. The bag of claim 21, wherein said upwardly extending member extends over only a portion of a length of said zipper.
