Claims
- 1. A recording material comprising the crystalline form of the fluoran compound represented by the formula (I): ##STR8## which has a melting point of from 159.degree. to 161.degree. C. and an X-ray diffraction diagram by Cu-K.alpha. beams which indicates a high peak at a diffraction angle 2.theta. of 6.9.degree. and a relatively high peak at 19.4.degree..
- 2. The recording material of claim 1, substantially free of the amorphous form of the fluoran compound.
- 3. A heat-sensitive recording material of claim 1, wherein the fluoran compound is used as a color forming compound, singly or as a mixture with another color forming compound.
- 4. A heat-sensitive recording material of claim 3, wherein the other color forming compound is selected from the group consisting of triphenylmethane, lactones, fluorans and spiropyrans.
- 5. A pressure-sensitive recording material of claim 2, wherein the fluoran compound is dissolved in a solvent.
- 6. A pressure-sensitive recording material of claim 5, wherein the solvent is selected from the group consisting of alkylbenzenes, alkylbiphenols, hydrogenated terphenyls, alkylnaphthalenes, diarylethanes and chlorinated benzenes.
- 7. A heat-sensitive recording material of claim 1, as a solution in a solvent which is encapsulated in micro-capsules dispersed throughout a coating on a back sheet or on one side of a middle sheet of a pressure-sensitive recording medium.
