Claims
- 1. A recording process comprising in an arbitrary order the following steps (a) and (b) of:
- (a) bringing a contact material into contact with a surface of a recording medium, said surface having a characteristic in which a receding contact angle decreases when said recording medium is heated in a condition where said recording medium is in contact with a liquid, said contact material being selected from a liquid, a vapor and a solid which generates or changes to either a vapor or a liquid under condition of a temperature lower than a temperature at which the recording angle on said recording medium starts to decrease, and
- (b) selectively heating said surface of said recording medium in accordance with image information,
- wherein an area having the receding contact angle corresponding to a temperature on said recording medium obtained by selecting heating said surface of said recording medium in accordance with the image information is formed, as a latent image, on said surface of said recording medium.
- 2. A recording process as claimed in claim 1, wherein said step (a) precedes said step (b).
- 3. A recording process as claimed in claim 1, wherein said step (b) precedes said step (a).
- 4. A recording process as claimed in claim 1 further comprising steps of removing said contact material from said surface of said recording medium and heating said surface of said recording medium, so as to erase said latent image.
- 5. A recording process as claimed in claim 1 further comprising a step of supplying a recording agent which includes a colorant, to said surface of said recording medium upon which the latent image has been formed, so as to color said latent image by said colorant.
- 6. A recording process as claimed in claim 5 further comprising a step of fixing a visible image developed by said recording agent on said surface of said recording medium, to said surface of said recording medium.
- 7. A recording process as claimed in claim 5 further comprising steps of transferring a visible image developed by said recording agent on said surface of said recording medium, to a medium for image transfer and fixing said visible image which is transferred to said medium for image transfer, on a surface of said medium for image transfer.
- 8. The recording process of claim 1, wherein said recording medium comprises:
- a base member; and
- a recording layer, provided on said base member, having a characteristic in which a receding contact angle decreases when said recording layer is heated in a condition where said recording layer is in contact with a liquid, said recording layer has an organic compound which includes a hydrophobic group, said hydrophobic group having a nature whereby it is oriented to a side open to air when said recording layer is heated in air.
- 9. The recording process of claim 8, wherein said organic compound has a chain molecular structure which has a plurality chains, said chain molecules including an alkylene group having a carbon number which is equal to or greater than 4, and a surface energy of said organic compound being equal to or less than 50 dyn/cm.
- 10. The recording process of claim 8, wherein said organic compound has a chain molecular structure which has a plurality of chains, hydrophobic group being provided at ends of said chains, said chain molecules including an alkylene group having a fluorine substituted for at least one hydrogen of said alkylene group and having a carbon number which is equal to or greater than 4, and a surface energy of said organic compound being equal to or less than 50 dyn/cm.
- 11. The recording process of claim 8, wherein said organic compound includes an alkyl group having a carbon number which is equal to or greater than 4, and a surface energy of said organic compound being equal to or less than 50 dyn/cm.
- 12. The recording process of claim 8, wherein said organic compound includes an alkyl group having a fluorine substituted for at least one hydrogen of said alkyl group and having a carbon number which is equal to or greater than 4, and a surface energy of said organic compound being equal to or less than 50 dyn/cm.
- 13. The recording process of claim 8, wherein said organic compound includes an alkyl group having a chloride substituted for at least one hydrogen of said alkyl group having a carbon number which is equal to or greater than 4, and a surface energy of said compound being equal to or less than 50 dyn/cm.
- 14. The recording process of claim 8, wherein said organic compound includes an alkyl group having a chlorine and a fluorine substituted for at least two hydrogens of said alkyl group and having a carbon number which is equal to or greater than 4, and a surface energy of said organic compound being equal to or less than 50 dyn/cm.
- 15. The recording process of claim 8, wherein said base member has a porous member, and said recording member is kept in said porous member so that the recording member is exposed on a surface of the porous member.
- 16. The recording process of claim 8, wherein said base member has a rough surface, and said recording member is provided on said rough surface of said base member.
- 17. The recording process of claim 1, wherein said recording medium comprises:
- a base member; and
- a recording layer, supported by said base member, having a characteristic in which a receding contact angle decreases when said recording layer is heated in a condition where said recording layer is in contact with a liquid, said recording layer containing a compound which has side chains having alkyl group that has a carbon number of 4 or more.
- 18. The recording process of claim 17, wherein said compound is a polymer of a compound represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR40## wherein, R.sup.1 is either hydrogen, --CH.sub.3 group or --C.sub.2 H.sub.5 group and
- R.sup.2 is --(CH.sub.2).sub.n CH.sub.3 (where n.gtoreq.3).
- 19. The recording process of claim 17, wherein said compound is a polymer of a compound represented by the following general formula (II): ##STR41## wherein, R.sup.1 is either hydrogen, --CH.sub.3 group or C.sub.2 H.sub.5 group, and
- R.sup.6 is --(CH.sub.2).sub.n CH.sub.3 (where n.gtoreq.3).
- 20. The recording process of claim 17, wherein said compound is a polymer of a compound represented by the following general formula (III): ##STR42## wherein, R.sup.1 is either hydrogen, --CH.sub.3 group or C.sub.2 H.sub.5 group and
- R.sup.11 is --(CH.sub.2).sub.n CH.sub.3 (where n.gtoreq.3).
- 21. The recording process of claim 17, wherein said compound is a polymer of a compound represented by the following general formula (IV): ##STR43## wherein, R.sup.1 is either hydrogen, --CH.sub.3 group or C.sub.2 H.sub.5 group and
- R.sup.13 is --(CH.sub.2).sub.n CH.sub.3 (where n.gtoreq.3).
- 22. The recording process of claim 17, wherein said compound is a polymer of a compound represented by the following general formula (V): ##STR44## wherein, R.sup.1 is either hydrogen, --CH.sub.3 group or C.sub.2 H.sub.5 group and
- R.sup.14 is --(CH.sub.2).sub.n CH.sub.3 (where n.gtoreq.3).
- 23. The recording process of claim 17, wherein said base member has a porous member, and that recording member is kept in said porous member so that the recording member is exposed on a surface of the porous member.
- 24. The recording process of claim 17, wherein said base member has a rough surface, and said recording member is provided on said rough surface of said base member.
- 25. The recording process of claim 1, wherein said recording medium comprises:
- a base member; and
- a recording layer, supported by said base member, having a characteristic in which receding contact angle decreases when said recording layer is heated in a condition where said recording layer is in contact with a liquid, said recording layer containing a compound which has side chains having fluorine.
- 26. The recording process of claim 25, wherein said compound is a polymer of a compound represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR45## wherein R.sup.1 is either hydrogen or --CH.sub.3 group, and R.sup.2 is either --(CH.sub.2).sub.n R.sup.3 where n is an integer in a range between 1 and 10, R.sup.3 is linear chain or branching perfluoroalkyl group in which a carbon number is between 3 and 21, ##STR46## where R.sup.4 is linear chain of branching perfluoroalkyl group, ##STR47## R.sup.5 is linear chain or branching perfluoroalkyl group in which a carbon number is between 1 and 8, or --CH[CH.sub.2 OCF(CF.sub.3).sub.2 ].sub.2.
- 27. The recording process according to claim 25, wherein said compound is a polymer of a compound represented by the following general formula (II): ##STR48## wherein, R.sup.1 is either hydrogen or --CH.sub.3 group, and R.sup.6 is either --(CF.sub.2).sub.n F where n is equal to 1 or an integer in a range between 3 and 17, --(CH.sub.2).sub.n R.sup.7 where n is an integer in a range between 1 and 10 and R.sup.7 is linear chain of branching perfluoroalkyl group, or --R.sup.8 N(R.sup.9)SO.sub.2 R.sup.10 where R.sup.8 is alkylene group in which a carbon number is between 1 and 12, R.sup.9 is either hydrogen or normal or branching alkyl group in which a carbon number is between 1 and 6, and R.sup.10 is linear chain of branching perfluoroalkyl group in which a carbon number is between 4 and 12.
- 28. The recording process of claim 25, wherein said compound is a polymer of a compound represented by the following general formula (III): ##STR49## wherein, R.sup.1 is either hydrogen or --CH.sub.3 group, and R.sup.11 is either ##STR50## --SCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 R.sup.12 where R.sup.12 is normal or branching perfluoroalkyl group in which a carbon number is between 5 and 13, or CH.sub.2 F.
- 29. The recording process of claim 25, wherein said compound is a polymer of a compound represented by the following general formula (IV): ##STR51## wherein, R.sup.1 is either hydrogen or --CH.sub.3 group, and
- R.sup.13 is either ##STR52## where n.sup.1 and n.sup.2 are respectively integers in a range between 0 and 10, --CF[CF(CF.sub.3).sub.2 ].sub.2, ##STR53## where n.sup.3 is an integer in range between 0 and 18, ##STR54## where n.sup.4 and n.sup.5 are respectively integers in a range between 1 and 18, ##STR55## where n.sup.6 and n.sup.7 are respectively integers in a range between 1 and 18, or ##STR56## where n.sup.8 is an integer in a range between 1 and 18.
- 30. The recording process of claim 25, wherein said compound is a polymer of a compound represented by the following general formula (V): ##STR57## wherein, R.sup.1 is either hydrogen or --CH.sub.3 group, and R.sup.14 is either --CH.sub.2 CF.sub.2 H, --CH.sub.2 CF.sub.2 CH.sub.3, --CHCF.sub.3, --(CH.sub.2).sub.3 CF.sub.3, or --(CH.sub.2 CF.sub.2 H).sub.2.
- 31. The recording process according to claim 25, wherein said compound is a copolymer containing at least one of compounds represented by the following general formulas (I), (II), (III), (IV) and (V): ##STR58## wherein R.sup.1 is either hydrogen or --CH3 group, and R.sup.2 is either --(CH.sub.2).sub.n R.sup.3 where n is an integer in a range between 1 and 10, R.sup.3 is linear chain or branching perfluoroalkyl group in which a carbon number is between 3 and 21, ##STR59## where R.sup.4 is linear chain of branching perfluoroalkyl group, ##STR60## where R.sup.5 is a linear chain or branching perfluoroalkyl group in which a carbon number is between 1 and 8, or --CH[CH.sub.2 OCF(CF.sub.3).sub.2 ].sub.2, ##STR61## wherein, R.sup.1 is either hydrogen or --CH.sub.3 group, and R.sup.6 is either --(CF.sub.2).sub.n F where n is equal to 1 or an integer in a range between 3 and 17, --(CH.sub.2).sub.n R.sup.7 where n is an integer in a range between 1 and 10 and R.sup.7 is linear chain or branching perfluoroalkyl group, or R.sup.8 N(R.sup.9)SO.sub.2 R.sup.10 where R.sup.8 is alkylene group in which a carbon number is between 1 and 12, R.sup.9 is either hydrogen or normal or branching alkyl group in which a carbon number is between 1 and 6, and R.sup.10 is a linear chain of branching perfluoroalkyl group in which a carbon number is between 4 and 12, ##STR62## wherein, R.sup.1 is either hydrogen or --CH.sub.3 group, and R.sup.11 is either ##STR63## --SCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 R.sup.12 where R.sup.12 is normal or branching perfluoroalkyl group in which a carbon number is between 5 and 13, or CH.sub.2 F, ##STR64## wherein, R.sup.1 is either hydrogen or --CH.sub.3 group, and
- R.sup.13 is either ##STR65## where n.sup.1 and n.sup.2 are respectively integers in a range between 0 and 10, --CF[CF(CF.sub.3).sub.2 ].sub.2, ##STR66## where n.sup.3 is an integer in range between 0 and 18, ##STR67## where n.sup.4 and n.sup.5 are respectively integers in a range between 1 and 18, ##STR68## where n.sup.6 and n.sup.7 are respectively integers in a range between 1 and 18, or ##STR69## where n.sup.8 is an integer in a range between 1 and 18, ##STR70## wherein, R.sup.1 is either hydrogen or --CH.sub.3 group, and
- R.sup.14 is either --CH.sub.2 CF.sub.2 H, --CH.sub.2 CF.sub.2 CH.sub.3, --CHCF.sub.3, --(CH.sub.2).sub.3 CF.sub.3, or --(CH.sub.2 CF.sub.2 H).sub.2.
- 32. The recording process of claim 25, wherein said base member has a porous member, and said recording member is kept in said porous member so that the recording member is exposed on a surface of the porous member.
- 33. The recording process of claim 25, wherein said base member has a rough surface, and said recording member is provided on said rough surface of said base member.
- 34. The recording process of claim 1, wherein said recording medium comprises
- a recording film having a characteristic in which a receding contact angle decreases when said recording layer is heated in a condition where said recording layer is in contact with a liquid, said recording layer has an organic compound which includes a hydrophobic group, said hydrophobic group having a nature whereby it is oriented to a side open to air when said recording layer is heated in air.
- 35. The recording process of claim 1, wherein said recording medium comprises
- a recording film having a characteristic in which a receding contact angle decreases when said recording layer is heated in a condition where said recording layer is in contact with a liquid, said recording layer containing a compound which has side chains having alkyl group that has a carbon number of 4 or more.
- 36. The recording process of claim 1, wherein said recording medium comprises
- a recording film having a characteristic in which a receding contact angle decreases when said recording layer is heated in a condition where said recording layer is in contact with a liquid, said recording layer containing a compound which has side chains having fluorine.
- 37. A recording process comprising in an arbitrary order the following steps (a) and (b) of:
- (a) bringing a recording agent which includes a colorant into contact with a surface of a recording medium, said surface having a characteristic in which a receding contact angle decreases when said recording medium is heated in a condition where said recording medium is in contact with a liquid, and
- (b) selectively heating said surface of said recording medium in accordance with image information,
- wherein on said surface of said recording medium, a visible image of said colorant is formed in an area having the receding contact angle corresponding to a temperature of said recording medium obtained by selectively heating said surface of said recording medium in accordance with image information.
- 38. A recording process as claimed in claim 37, wherein said step (a) precedes said step (b).
- 39. A recording process as claimed in claim 37, wherein said step (b) precedes said step (a).
- 40. A recording process as claimed in claim 37 further comprising steps of removing said recording agent from said surface of said recording medium, and heating said surface of said recording medium, so that said area is eliminated.
- 41. A recording process as claimed in claim 37 further comprising a step of fixing said visible image developed by said recording agent on said surface of said recording medium, to said surface of said recording medium.
- 42. A recording process as claimed in claim 37 further comprising steps of transferring said visible image developed by said on said surface of said recording medium to a medium for image transfer and fixing said visible image which is transferred to said surface of said medium for image transfer, on a surface of said medium for image transfer.
