Claims
- 1. An artificial, downhill, snowless run including a meandering course running from an upper level to a lower level, characterized by
- a. a plurality of prefabricated elongated slide segments;
- b. said segments being placed in an end-to-end fashion to define said course, with a portion of said plurality of segments being curved and a portion being straight to define the meandering nature of said course;
- c. each of said segments including integral flanges along each side edge thereof, with each flange being an inverted U-shape in cross section;
- d. tube-shaped rail means extending longitudinally along each side edge of said course for supporting said U-shaped flanges;
- e. a plurality of spaced apart strut means positioned along each side of said course;
- f. one end of each slide segment being supported upon said strut means with the other end supported on the next succeeding slide segment;
- g. said tube-shaped rails being positioned on the upper ends of said strut means;
- h. integral depending flanges on each of said side flanges;
- i. butt strap means removably connected to each of said depending flanges;
- j. said butt strap means slidingly connected to said strut means;
- k. a plurality of spaced apart ground supports positioned along said run;
- l. the lower ends of said strut means positioned on said ground supports;
- m. means securing said strut means to said ground supports; and
- n. cable means extending between each ground support and the next succeeding strut means downhill thereof.
- 2. The sledding run of claim 1, further characterized by
- a. said securing means allowing universal movement between said strut means and said ground supports.
- 3. The sledding run of claim 1, further characterized by
- a. a transverse flange affixed to the upper end of each said segment for receiving the lower end of the next succeeding segment uphill thereof.
- 4. The sledding run of claim 1, further characterized by
- a. each of said segments being trough-like in cross section to define a shallow, concave sled run extending between said side flanges.
- 5. The sledding run of claim 1, further characterized by
- a. a ski lift extending between said lower level and said upper level and spaced from said course.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 1, further characterized by
- a. each said cable means including turnbuckle means.
- 7. A slide subcombination, particularly adapted for installation along sloping terrain in a predetermined spaced relationship above said terrain established by height adjustable supporting means or the like, said slide subcombination comprising
- a. a plurality of longitudinally extending, straight and curved, slide segments, the upper ends of consecutive ones of which are overlapped by the lower ends of the preceding segment to define a continuous, sledding run having a predetermined serpentine configuration, including straight and curved portions;
- b. each of said segments being of generally trough-like configuration and having a cross-sectional configuration comprising a shallow, concave central sled supporting portion terminating in convex side rail portions;
- c. said convex side rail portions having predetermined generally inverted U-shape cross-section, whereby the undersides of said side rail portions are adapted to nest closely and to be supported directly upon longitudinally extending support structure of similar configuration;
- d. depending flange means extending integrally and downwardly from said convex rail portions;
- e. butt strap means removably connected to each of said depending flange means and adapted to interconnect each of said slide segments to an underlying support means; and
- f. fastening means joining said butt strap means to said flange means.
