Claims
- 1. A longitudinally extending sheet of paperboard material for use in constructing a plurality of generally rectangular paperboard packages, said sheet comprising:
- a plurality of uniformly longitudinally spaced indexing means;
- each indexing means including at least one precut peg receiving portion;
- a plurality of longitudinally spaced apart tear line means, with a separate tear line means located between each longitudinally successive pair of indexing means, each tear line means defining an openable portion of said sheet and being spaced from each of said indexing means.
- 2. The sheet according to claim 1 wherein said tear line means includes first and second spaced tear lines having their one ends connected by a third tear line.
- 3. The sheet according to claim 2 wherein said third tear line is an elongated opening extending between the ends of said first and second tear lines.
- 4. The sheet according to claim 1 wherein said paperboard material includes a paper layer having an inner thermoplastic layer secured to an inner surface thereof.
- 5. The sheet according to claim 4 wherein said peg receiving portions are formed only in said paper layer and are covered by said inner thermoplastic layer.
- 6. The sheet according to claim 4 wherein said tear line means is formed only in said paper layer and is completely covered by said inner thermoplastic layer.
- 7. The sheet according to claim 4 wherein said paperboard material includes an outer thermoplastic layer secured to an outer surface of said paper layer.
- 8. The sheet according to claim 1 wherein each indexing means includes a plurality of transversely spaced precut peg receiving portions.
- 9. The sheet according to claim 8 including a plurality of transversely spaced tear line means located between each longitudinally successive pairs of indexing means.
- 10. The sheet according to claim 9 wherein each of said tear line means includes first and second tear lines having their one ends connected by a third tear line.
- 11. The sheet according to claim 10 wherein said third tear line is an elongated opening extending between the ends of said first and second tear lines.
- 12. The sheet according to claim 11 wherein said first and second tear lines extended generally longitudinally and said elongate opening extends transversely.
- 13. The sheet according to claim 12 wherein said paperboard material includes a center paper layer, an inner thermoplastic layer and an outer thermoplastic layer, and wherein said indexing means and said tear line means are formed only in said paper layer and are covered by said inner and outer plastic layers.
- 14. The sheet according to claim 13 wherein said first and second tear lines are arcuately shaped.
- 15. The sheet according to claim I4 wherein each peg receiving portion is formed in an H-cut pattern.
- 16. The sheet according to claim 10 wherein said first and sheet tear lines each includes a first end, a center portion and a second end, and wherein said center portions are spaced apart by a distance less than the spacing between said first ends and the spacing between said second ends.
- 17. The sheet according to claim 16 wherein said first and second tear lines are arcuately shaped.
- 18. A longitudinally extending sheet of paperboard material for use in constructing a plurality of generally rectangular paperboard packages, said sheet comprising:
- a plurality of uniformly longitudinally spaced registration means;
- a plurality of longitudinally spaced apart tear line means, with a separate tear line means located between each longitudinally successive pair of registration means, each tear line means defining an openable portion of said sheet;
- said tear line means including first and second spaced longitudinally extending tear lines having their one ends connected by a third tear line, said third tear line including an elongated opening extending transversely between the ends of said first and second tear lines.
- 19. The sheet according to claim 18 wherein said paperboard material includes a paper layer having an inner thermoplastic layer secured to an inner surface thereof.
- 20. The sheet according to claim 19 wherein said paperboard material includes an outer thermoplastic layer secured to an outer surface of said paper layer.
- 21. The sheet according to claim 17 wherein said tear line means is formed only in said paper layer and is completely covered by said inner thermoplastic layer.
- 22. The sheet according to claim 18 wherein each registration means includes a mechanical indexing means.
- 23. The sheet according to claim 22 wherein each indexing means includes at least one precut peg receiving portion.
- 24. The sheet according to claim 22 wherein each indexing means includes a plurality of transversely spaced precut peg receiving portions.
- 25. The sheet according to claim 24 wherein each peg receiving portion is formed in an H-cut pattern.
- 26. The sheet according to claim 25 wherein said peg receiving portions are formed only in said paper layer and are covered by said inner thermoplastic layer.
- 27. The sheet according to claim 18 including a plurality of transversely spaced apart tear line means located between each longitudinally successive pair of registration means.
- 28. The sheet according to claim 18 wherein said first and second tear lines each includes a first end, a center portion and a second end, and wherein said center portions are spaced apart by a distance less than the spacing between said first ends and the spacing between said second ends.
- 29. The sheet according to claim 28 wherein said first and second tear lines are arcuately shaped.
