Claims
- 1. In an elongated fiber product, the combination comprising a drawn polypropylene fiber prepared from an isotactic polypropylene having a melt flow index within the range of about 5 grams per 10 minutes to about 15 grams per 10 minutes, polymerized in the presence of an isospecific metallocene catalyst;said fiber being prepared by spinning and drawing a fiber preform of said isotactic polypropylene with a draw ratio within the range of about 1.5 to about 4 at a draw speed of at least about 1,000 and further characterized by having a percentage shrinkage at 132° C. within the range of about 8% to about 12%.
- 2. In an elongated fiber product, the combination comprising a drawn polypropylene fiber prepared from an isotactic polypropylene having a melt flow index within the range of about 15 grams per 10 minutes to about 25 grams per 10 minutes, polymerized in the presence of an isospecific metallocene catalyst;said fiber being prepared by spinning and drawing with a draw ratio within the range of about 1.5 to about 4 at a draw speed of at least about 1,000 and further characterized by having a percentage shrinkage at 132° C. within the range of about 6% to about 10%.
- 3. The elongated fiber product of claim 1 wherein said fiber is prepared from an isotactic polypropylene having a melt flow index within the range of 8 to 14 meters per 10 minutes.
- 4. The elongated fiber product of claim 1 wherein said fiber is prepared by spinning and drawing at a draw speed within the range of 1,000-3,000 meters per minute.
- 5. The elongated fiber product of claim 2 wherein said fiber is prepared from an isotactic polypropylene having a melt flow index within the range of 8 to 21 meters per 10 minutes.
- 6. The elongated fiber product of claim 2 wherein said fiber is prepared by spinning and drawing at a draw speed within the range of 1,000-3000 meters per minute.
