Claims
- 1. In a defrost timer having a programmable microprocessor having an input and programmed to receive a signal from a compressor via the input to monitor turn on and turn off of the compressor by means of the input and to control connection of a power source to the compressor, the improvement comprising:
- a high impedance device operatively coupled between the power source and the input thereby to simulate signalling of turn on of the compressor whenever the signal from connection of the compressor the microprocessor is broken.
- 2. The defrost timer of claim 1, wherein the high impedance device is a pull-up resistor.
- 3. The defrost timer of claim 1, wherein the high impedance device is a pull-up resistor having a resistance of at least 1M ohm.
- 4. The defrost timer of claim 1, wherein one end of the high impedance device is operatively coupled to the input so that said high impedance device couples said input to said power source even if said compressor is disconnected from said input.
- 5. The defrost timer of claim 1, wherein the high impedance device simulates turn-on of the compressor should the signal from the compressor to the input be electrically broken.
- 6. An apparatus including a refrigeration system, comprising:
- a power source;
- a compressor;
- a defrost cycle controller operatively coupled to the power source and the compressor and the power source to control operation of the compressor to effect a refrigeration cycle, the defrost controller comprising a defrost cycle timer having a programmable microprocessor with an input and programmed to receive a signal from the compressor via the input to monitor turn-on and turn-off of the compressor and to control connection of the power source to the compressor; and
- a high impedance device operatively coupled between the power source and the input thereby to simulate signalling of turn-on of the compressor should the signal from the compressor to the input be broken.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the high impedance device is a pull-up resistor.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the high impedance device is a pull-up resistor having a resistance of at least 1M ohm.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein one end of the high impedance device is operatively coupled to the input so that said high impedance device couples said input to said power source even if said compressor is disconnected from said input.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the high impedance device simulates turn-on of the compressor should the signal from the compressor to the input be electrically broken.
