Claims
- 1. A method for affecting the growth of a plant locus, plant cell, plant tissue, immature plant seed, or mature plant seed which comprises applying to said plant locus, pant cell, plant tissue, immature plant seed, or mature plant seed, a growth-affecting, effective amount of a composition comprising 5-bromoindole-3-acetic acid, or a salt, an ester or an amide derivative thereof.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said plant is a plant tissue culture.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein said plant is a monocotyledon.
- 4. The method of claim 3 wherein said plant is Oryza sativa.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein said plant is a dicotyledon.
- 6. The method of claim 1 wherein said plant is a transgenic plant.
- 7. The method of claim 6 wherein said plant is a monocotyledon.
- 8. The method of claim 7 wherein said plant is Oryza sativa.
- 9. The method of claim 6 wherein said plant is a dicotyledon.
- 10. The method of claim 9 wherein said plant is Arabidopsis thaliana.
- 11. The method of claim 9 wherein said plant is Nicotiana tabacum.
- 12. The method of claim 1 wherein said composition further comprises an additional plant growth regulator present in an effective amount and ratio to said 5-bromoindole-3-acetic acid to increase root formation.
- 13. The method of claim 1 wherein said composition further comprises an additional plant growth regulator present in an effective amount and ratio to said 5-bromoindole-3-acetic acid to increase shoot formation.
- 14. A method for the production of embryogenic callus from a plant comprising contacting a plant cell or plant tissue from said plant with a composition comprising 5-bromoindole-3-acetic acid in an effective amount for formation of embryogenic callus.
- 15. The method of claim 14 wherein said composition further comprises at least one additional plant growth regulator.
- 16. The method of claim 14 wherein said plant is transgenic plant.
- 17. The method of claim 14 wherein said plant is a monocotyledon.
- 18. The method of claim 14 wherein said plant is a dicotyledon.
- 19. The method of claim 14 wherein said plant is selected from the group consisting of Oryza sativa, Arabidopsis thaliana and Nicotiana tabacum.
- 20. A kit for the production of embryogenic callus from a plant comprising:
at least one container; and a callus formation medium comprising 5-bromoindole-3-acetic acid and at least one additional plant growth regulator, wherein said 5-bromoindole-3-acetic acid is present in an amount and ratio to said additional plant growth regulator effective for formation of an embryogenic callus.
