Claims
- 1. A method for regulating the operation of yarn clearers having error correcting means such as yarn cutters, and sensing means providing an electrical signal representative of the controlled quality, said method comprising the steps of: feeding the signal from the sensing means to two independent electrical circuit channels each having separate threshold switch means, the threshold switch means of one circuit responsive to signals corresponding to yarn faults of given magnitude, the threshold switch means of the other circuit responding to signals corresponding to faults of given duration; and obtaining an independent control signal from each of said channels for initiating the operation of the cutters when a limiting value selected for each of said two channels is exceeded.
- 2. A method according to claim 1 for controlling yarn quality wherein one channel responds to a signal indicative of the mean cross-section of a predetermined length of the yarn, and the limiting value is selected such that the control signal is given as soon as the said cross-section whose mean value is taken over a given length exceeds a desired yarn count.
- 3. A method according to claim 2, wherein the electrical signal representative of the controlled quality is fed to a control device which responds to variations of the electrical signal to prevent a signal being passed on the insertion of yarn into the measuring element.
- 4. A method according to claim 1, wherein the control device is arranged to act on the input signal to a threshold switch so that when a yarn having the nominal yarn count is inserted in the measuring element, the threshold switch does not give a signal while it does give a signal when the cross-section, whose mean value determined over a given length, varies from the nominal yarn count.
- 5. A method according to claim 1, wherein the signal in one of said channels is integrated to provide an output voltage which is reduced to such an extent by the control device that a threshold switch does not give a signal when yarn having the nominal yarn count is inserted in the measuring element but does give a signal when the mean cross-section, determined over a given length exceeds the nominal yarn count.
