Claims
- 1. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a motor vehicle having at least one door lock with a first locked condition and a second unlocked condition, said receiver unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said door lock to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of a received signal and said stored first code; and a transmitting unit including means for storing a second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said door lock into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitted signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising: programming means for establishing said stored first code, said programming means including field programming means for permitting entry of said coded portion of said received coded signal into said memory means to establish said first code as corresponding to said coded portion of said received signal, said field programming means including switch means associated with said receiver unit for permitting said entry of said coded portion only when said switch means is manually operated.
- 2. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a motor vehicle having at least one door lock with a first locked condition and a second unlocked condition, said receiver unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said door lock to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of a received signal and said stored first code; and a transmitting unit including means for storing a second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said door lock into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitted signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising: programming means for establishing said first code, said programming means including field programming means for permitting entry of said coded portion of said received coded signal into said memory means to establish said first code as corresponding to said coded portion of said received signal, said field programming means including means associated with said receiver unit for inhibiting said entry of said coded portion until a load releasing signal is created at said receiving unit.
- 3. The remote control system as defined in claim 2, including means for creating said load releasing signal in response to a universal coded signal being received by said coded signal receiving means of said receiver unit and creation of a write signal at said receiver.
- 4. The remote control system as defined in claim 3, including a universal transmitter unit having its second code set to said universal code whereby transmission of a coded signal from said universal transmitter unit while said write signal is created, creates said load releasing signal.
- 5. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a structure having at least one controlled device with a first operative condition, said receiver unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a plurality of codes of binary bits in a plurality of registers, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with each of said plurality of codes, and means for shifting said controlled device to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between the code portion of a received signal and one of said plurality of stored codes, the improvement comprising: programming means for setting said plurality of codes to the transmitted coded signal of at least one hand held transmitting unit, said programming means including write means at said fixed receiver unit for manually and selectively allowing loading of the code portion of a received coded signal into all of said registers, and means for disabling the loading capabilities of a first of said registers after the code portion of a first received signal is loaded into all of said registers whereby a second received signal is loaded into all of said registers except said first register.
- 6. The improved control system defined in claim 5, including a first timing means limiting the time during which said write means allows said register loading.
- 7. The improved control system as defined in claim 5, including a timing means for limiting the time during which the code portion of said first received signal can be loaded into said registers.
- 8. A remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a structure having at least one controlled device with a first operative condition and a second inoperative condition, said receiving unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said controlled device to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of a received signal and said stored first code; first transmitting means for transmitting a coded signal including a second coded portion adapted to generate said comparison match with said stored first code; a second transmitting unit including means for storing a third code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said controlled device into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said third code as the code portion of the transmitted signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit; and, programming means to permit stored entry of said transmitted third code into said memory means to replace said stored first code and to cause said comparing means thereafter to compare said stored third code with the code portion of a received signal, said programming means being responsive to a manual switch means.
- 9. In remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a motor vehicle having at least one door lock with a first locked condition and a second unlocked condition, said receiver unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said door lock to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of a received signal and said stored first code; and, a transmitting unit including means for storing a second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said door lock into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitted signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising: programming means for entering a code into said memory to provide said stored first code, said programming means including field programming means including a register means in said receiver unit for storing a group of binary bits constituting said stored first code, said register means including a written enabling means responsive to a write signal directed to said memory means, a manually operated switch means at said receiver unit for selectively creating a write signal at said receiving unit and code loading means for loading the code portion of a received coded signal into said register means when said code loading means is enabled by a write signal created contemporaneously with a transmitted coded signal being received from said transmitting unit by said receiving unit whereby said stored first code is provided as a code matching said code portion of said transmitted coded signal, and a timing means having a given duration and a starting means for starting said timing means in response to creation of said write signal by said manually operated switch means, said timing means, for said duration, allowing said code loading means to be enable for said duration only.
- 10. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a motor vehicle having at least one door lock with a first locked condition and a second unlocked condition, said receiver unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said door lock to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of a received signal and said stored first code; and, a transmitting unit including means for storing a second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said door lock into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitted signal, which transmitting signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising; programming means for entering a code into said memory to provide said stored first code, said programming means including a first and a second of said transmitting units, at least a first register means and a second register means, both register means including a write enabling means responsive to a write signal, a manually operated switch means at said receiver unit for selectively creating a write signal at said receiver unit, first code loading means for loading the code portion of a received code signal into said first and second register means when said first code loading means is enabled by a write signal created contemporaneously with a first transmitted coded signal received from said first transmitting unit and second code loading means for loading the code portion of a received coded signal into said second register only when said second code loading means is enabled by a write signal created contemporaneously with a second transmitted code signal received from said second transmitter unit.
- 11. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a motor vehicle having at least one door lock with a first locked condition and a second unlocked condition, said receiver unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said door lock to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of a received signal and said stored first code; and, a transmitting unit including means for storing a second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said door lock into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitted signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising: said transmitting means of said transmitting unit including a first oscillator for creating a signal carrier, a clocking oscillator having a first frequency, a carrier enabling means driven by said clocking oscillator for starting and stopping said carrier in a preselected code pattern corresponding to said first code of binary bits, said code pattern comprising intervals with said carrier being ON for a first number of clocking pulses at the start of a window of a given number of clock pulses to signify the first binary state, and ON for a second number of clocking pulses at the start of a window to signify the second binary state, the sum of said first and second number of pulses generally equaling said given number of clock pulses.
- 12. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a motor vehicle having at least one door lock with a first locked condition and a second unlocked condition, said receiver unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said door lock to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of a received signal and said stored first code; and, a transmitting unit including means for storing a second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said door lock into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitted signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising: said transmitting means of said transmitting unit including a first oscillator for creating a signal carrier, a clocking oscillator having a first frequency, a carrier enabling means driven by said clocking oscillator for starting and stopping said carrier in a preselected code pattern corresponding to said first code of binary bits, said code pattern comprising intervals with said carrier being ON for a first number of clocking pulses at the start of a window of a given number of clock pulses to signify the first binary state, and ON for a second number of clocking pulses at the start of a window to signify the second binary state, said receiver unit including a sampling oscillator having a second frequency which is not synchronized with said first frequency of said clocking oscillator in said transmitting unit, means controlled by said sampling oscillator to create sampling pulses at a sample rate correlated with said second frequency, means for determining the carrier ON state of said received coded signal during each of said sampling pulses, counting means for counting the sampling pulses while said carrier is in the ON state at the start of a receiving window having a given number of sampling pulses to provide a count during each of said receiving windows, means for detecting the windows of said received coded signal to set the given number of sampling pulses of said receiving window, and means for comparing said count to a percentage of said receiving window to determine the binary state during each of said receiving window.
- 13. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a structure having at least one controlled device with a first operative condition and a second inoperative condition, said receiver unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said controlled device to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of a received signal and said stored first code; and, a transmitting unit including means for storing a second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said controlled device into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitted signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising: said transmitting means of said transmitting unit including a first oscillator for creating a signal carrier, a clocking oscillator having a first frequency, a carrier enabling means driven by said clocking oscillator for starting and stopping said carrier in a preselected code pattern corresponding to said second code of binary bits, said code pattern comprising intervals with said carrier being ON for a first number of clocking pulses at the start of a window of a given number of clock pulses to signify the first binary state, and ON for a second number of clocking pulses at the start of a window to signify the second binary state, said receiver unit including a sampling oscillator having a second frequency which is not synchronized with said first frequency of said clocking oscillator in said transmitting unit, means controlled by said sampling oscillator to create sampling pulses at a sample rate correlated with said second frequency, means for determining the carrier ON state of said received coded signal during each of said sampling pulses, counting means for counting the sampling pulses while said carrier is in the ON state at the start of a receiving window having a given number of sampling pulses to provide a count during each of said receiving windows, means for detecting the windows of said received coded signal to set the given number of sampling pulses of said receiving windows, and means for comparing said count to a percentage of said receiving windows to determine the binary state during each of said receiving windows.
- 14. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a structure having at least one controlled device with a first operative condition and a second inoperative condition, said receiving unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said controlled device to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of a received signal and said stored first code; and, a transmitting unit including means for storing a second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said controlled device into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitting signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising: programming means for entering a code into said memory to provide said stored first code, said programming means including a register means in said memory means of said receiver unit for storing a group of binary bits constituting said stored first code, said register means including a write enabling means responsive to a write signal directed to said memory means, a manually operated switch means at said receiver unit for selectively creating a write signal at said receiver unit and code loading means for loading the code portion of a received coded signal into said register means when said code loading means is enabled by a write signal created contemporaneously with a transmitted coded signal being received from said transmitting unit by said receiving unit whereby said stored code is provided as a code matching said code portion of said transmitted coded signal, and a timing means having a given duration and a starting means for starting said timing means in response to creation of said write signal by said manually operated switch means, said timing means, for said duration, allowing said code loading means to be enabled for said duration only.
- 15. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a structure having at least one controlled device with a first operative condition and a second inoperative condition, said receiving unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said controlled device to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of a received signal and said stored first code; and, a transmitting unit including means for storing a second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said controlled device into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitting signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising: programming means for entering a code into said memory to provide said stored first code, said programming means including a register means in said memory means of said receiver unit for storing a group of binary bits constituting said stored first code, said register means including a write enabling means responsive to a write signal directed to said memory means, a manually operated switch means at said receiver unit for selectively creating a write signal at said receiver unit and code loading means for loading the code portion of a received coded signal into said register means when said code loading means is enabled by a write signal created contemporaneously with a transmitted coded signal being received from said transmitting unit by said receiving unit whereby said stored first code is provided as a code matching said code portion of a received coded signal, a timing means having a given duration and a starting means for starting said timing means in response to creation of said write signal by said manually operated switch means, said timing means, for said duration, allowing said code loading means to be enabled for said duration only.
- 16. The remote control system as defined in claim 14, including means on said receiver means for inhibiting said code loading means until a load releasing signal is created at said receiving unit.
- 17. The remote control system as defined in claim 16, including means for creating said load releasing signal in response to a universal coded signal being received by said coded signal receiving means of said receiver unit and creation of said write signal at said receiver.
- 18. The remote control system as defined in claim 17, including a universal transmitter unit generally duplicating said transmitting unit having its second code set to said universal code whereby transmission of a coded signal from said universal transmitter unit while said write signal is created, creates said load receiving signal.
- 19. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a structure having at least one controlled device with a first operative condition and a second inoperative condition, said receiving unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said controlled device to one of said conditions upon comparison match between said code portion of a received signal and said stored first; and, a transmitting unit including means for storing second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said controlled device into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitted signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising: programming means for entering a code into said memory to provide said stored first code, said programming means including a register means in said memory means of said receiver unit for storing a group of binary bits constituting said stored first code, said register means including a write enabling means responsive to a write signal directed to said memory means, a manually operated switch means at said receiver unit for selectively creating a write signal at said receiver unit and code loading means for loading the code portion of a received coded signal into said register means when said code loading means is enabled by a write signal created contemporaneously with a transmitted coded signal being received from said transmitting unit by said receiving unit whereby said first code is provided as a code matching said code portion of a received coded signal, and means on said receiver means for inhibiting said code loading means until a load releasing signal is created at said receiving unit.
- 20. The remote control system as defined in claim 19, including means for creating said load release signal in response to a universal coded signal being received by said coded signal receiving means of said receiver unit and creation of said write signal at said receiver.
- 21. The remote control system as defined in claim 20, including a universal transmitter unit generally duplicating said transmitting unit having its second code set to said universal code whereby transmission of a coded signal from said universal transmitter unit, while said write signal is created, creates said load receiving signal.
- 22. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a structure having at least one controlled device with a first operative condition and a second inoperative condition said receiving unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said controlled device to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of received signal and said stored first code; and, a transmitting unit including means for storing a second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said controlled device into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitted signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising: programming means entering a code into said memory to provide said stored first code, said programming means including a register means in said memory means of said receiver unit for storing a group of binary bits constituting said stored first code, said register means including a write enabling means responsive to a write signal directed to said memory means, a manually operated switch means at said receiver unit for selectively creating a write signal at said receiver unit and code loading means for loading the code portion of a received coded signal into said register means when said code loading means is enabled by a write signal created contemporaneously with a transmitted coded signal being received from said transmitting unit by said receiving unit whereby said first code is provided as a code matching said code portion of said transmitted coded signal, and including means on said receiver means for inhibiting said code loading means until a load releasing signal is created at said receiving unit.
- 23. The remote control system as defined in claim 22, including means for creating said load release signal in response to a universal coded signal being received by said coded receiving means of said receiver unit and creation of said write signal at said receiver.
- 24. The remote control system as defined in claim 23, including a universal transmitter unit generally duplicating said transmitting unit having its second code set to said universal code whereby transmission of a coded signal from said universal transmitter unit, while said write signal is created, creates said load receiving signal.
- 25. The remote control system as defined in claim 14, wherein said structure is a motor vehicle and said controlled device is the door lock of said motor vehicle.
- 26. The remote control system as defined in claim 15, where in said structure is a motor vehicle and said controlled device is the door lock of said motor vehicle.
- 27. The remote control system as defined in claim 22, wherein said structure is a motor vehicle and said controlled device is the door lock of said motor vehicle.
- 28. The remote control system as defined in claim 8, including means on said receiver means for inhibiting said code setting means until a load releasing signal is created at said receiving unit.
- 29. The remote control system as defined in claim 28, including means for creating said load releasing signal in response to a universal coded signal being received by said coded signal receiving means of said receiver unit and creation of a write signal at said receiver.
- 30. The remote control system as defined in claim 29, wherein said first transmitting means is a universal transmitter unit having its second code set to said universal code whereby transmission of a coded signal from said universal transmitter unit, while said write signal is created, creates said load releasing signal.
- 31. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a structure having at least one controlled device with a first operative condition and a second inoperative condition said receiving unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said controlled device to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of received signal and said stored first code; and, a transmitting unit including means for storing a second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said controlled device into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitted signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising: programming means entering a code into said memory to provide said stored first code, said programming means including field programming means including a register means in said receiver unit for storing a group of binary bits constituting said stored first code, said register means including a write enabling means responsive to a write signal directed to said memory means, a manually operated switch means at said receiver unit for selectively creating a write signal at said receiving unit and code loading means for loading the code portion of a received coded signal into said register means when said code loading means is enabled by a write signal created contemporaneously with a transmitted coded signal being received from said transmitting unit by said receiving unit whereby said first code is provided as a code matching said code portion of said transmitted coded signal, and a timing means having a given duration and a starting means for starting said timing means in response to creation of said write signal by said manually operated switch means, said timing means, for said duration, allowing said code loading means to be enabled for said duration only.
- 32. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a structure having at least one controlled device with a first operative condition and a second inoperative condition, said receiving unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said controlled device to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of a received signal and said stored first code; and, a transmitting unit including means for storing a second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said controlled device into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitted signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising: programming means entering a code into said memory to provide said stored first code, said programming means including a first and a second of said transmitting units, at least a first register means and a second register means, both register means being in said receiver unit, both of said register means including a write enabling means responsive to a write signal, a manually operated switch means at said receiver unit for selectively creating a write signal at said receiver unit, first code loading means for loading the code portion of a received coded signal into said first and second register means when said first code loading means is enabled by a write signal created contemporaneously with a first transmitted coded signal received from said first transmitting unit and second code loading means for loading the code portion of a received coded signal into said second register only when said second code loading means is enabled by a write signal created contemporaneously with a second transmitted coded signal received from said second transmitter unit.
- 33. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a structure having at least one controlled device with a first operative condition and a second inoperative condition, said receiving unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said controlled device to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of a received signal and said stored first code; and, a transmitting unit including means for storing a second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said controlled device into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitted signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising: said transmitting means of said transmitting unit includes a first oscillator for creating a signal carrier, a clocking oscillator having a first frequency, a carrier enabling means driven by said clocking oscillator for starting and stopping said carrier in a preselected code pattern corresponding to said first code of binary bits, said code pattern comprising intervals with said carrier being ON for a first number of clocking pulses at the start of a window of a given number of clock pulses to signify the first binary state, and ON for a second number of clocking pulses at the start of a window to signify the second binary state, with the sum of said first and second number of pulses generally equal to said given number of clock pulses.

In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a structure having at least one controlled device with a first operative condition and a second inoperative condition, said receiving unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a first code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said first code and means for shifting said controlled device to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between said code portion of a received signal and said stored first code; and, a transmitting unit including means for storing a second code of binary bits, selector means for indicating a desire to shift said controlled device into one of said conditions, means responsive to said selector means for transmitting a coded signal including said second code as the code portion of the transmitted signal, which transmitted signal has a signal strength sufficient to drive said receiving means when said transmitting unit is in proximity to said receiver unit, the improvement comprising: said transmitting means of said transmitting unit including a first oscillator for creating a signal carrier, a clocking oscillator having a first frequency, a carrier enabling means driven by said clocking oscillator for starting and stopping said carrier in a preselected code pattern corresponding to said first code of binary bits, said code pattern comprising intervals with said carrier being ON for a first number of clocking pulses at the start of a window of a given number of clock pulses to signify the first binary state, and ON for a second number of clocking pulses at the start of a window to signify the second binary state, said receiver unit including a sampling oscillator having a second frequency which is not synchronized with said first frequency of said clocking oscillator in said transmitting unit, means controlled by said sampling oscillator to create sampling pulses at a sample rate correlated with said second frequency, means for determining the carrier ON state of said received coded signal during each of said sampling pulses counting means for counting the sampling pulses while said carrier is in the ON state at the start of a receiving window having a given number of sampling pulses to provide a count during each of said receiving windows, means for detecting the windows of said received coded signal to set the given number of sampling pulses of said receiving window, and means for comparing said count to a percentage of said receiving window to determine the binary state during each of said receiving windows.
- 35. In a remote control system including a receiver unit adapted to be fixedly mounted onto a structure having at least one controlled device with a first operative condition, said receiver unit including means for receiving a coded signal including a code portion of binary bits, memory means for storing a code of binary bits, means for comparing the code portion of a received coded signal with said stored code, and means for shifting said controlled device to one of said conditions upon a comparison match between the code portion of a received signal and said stored code, the improvement comprising: said code portion of said received signal including a succession of windows each including a given logic state for a first time indicative of a first binary number or for a second time indicative of a second binary number; and, said receiver unit including means for creating many sample signals as said coded signal is received, means for detecting the start of one of said windows, means for counting said sample signals while said given logic exists to obtain a count and comparing said count to a preselected number correlated to one of said first and second times.
- 36. The control system as defined in claim 35, including means for determining the average number of sample signals during a window and adjusting said preselected number by said average number.
